Wanted to eat at 29 Palms Inn, but it was closed, so frantically searched TripAdvisor for SOMEWHERE else to eat after visiting Joshua Tree National Park. The reviews were spot-on. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's American/Mexican. But the portions were huge, the prices were low, the food was fresh and tasty, and the staff was just so darn friendly you couldn't help but like the place. Zero atmosphere -- but the place was bustling because, I'm sure, there are a lot of repeat customers in this otherwise food desert (yes, pun intended).

Think I would rather have Taco Bell. Nachos looked like something I made myself at home...would rather just have the traditional nachos with side of salsa/guac/queso! Chips were super greasy. Kids ordered cheese quesadillas and they were huge however the cheese they use is also super greasy...made my 14yr old queasy. We thought the rice and beans were descent. The asada and carnitas were a bit dry. However the service was quick there is an expansive menu and its a very large portion of food...hubs and I should have split a plate and skipped the nachos!

I like my Tex Mex enchiladas. This place did not disappoint. We were their on a week day night and their was only one other couple in the place. The server was super friendly. The food came quickly, it hit a home run with me and the prices were easy on the wallet. Like I said. my type of Mexican grub.

Was so excited to try some authentic Mexican after reading the reviews but unfortunately my experience was mediocre so say the least. Maybe it was the time of day? I came I for breakfast and ordered the Steak Rancheros platter. There was barely any steak on the plate. and the portion were moderate. Seemed understaffed as the waiters didnt seem to be engaged with the customers. The only music coming from the restaraun was from the back where they were cooking, so that made it a little awkward. Coffee was okay, they add cinnamon to it.Okay experience but certainly wont be craving Arteaga's anytime soon.

We read reviews and thought we would give it a try. The reviews were mixed, but they said they made great Margaritas. And how could you mess up Mexican Food. Well.... We award Edchadas the trophy for the worst Mexican food we ever tasted. Now for those that gave it a good review. I believe it is a gamble to expect a great meal NOW for the Margaritas Ugh no taste at all. We tried both frozen and on the rocks. The frozen was bland and tasteless. The on the rocks was extremely sweet. Both had no flavor. I ordered a shot of Tequila added it to the Margaritas and still was tasteless. I think they water down their booze. We even ordered a Jameson on the rocks. And it tasted watered down too. My advice you get a better meal and deal at Del Taco. There is a liquor store down the road you can buy small bottles of tequila and have a great meal. One star of credit to Edchadas. They did discount our meal and drinks.
