Delicious food, beautifully presented Attentive serviceComfortable atmosphereReasonable pricesThank you, Chef Roberto!
went here for breakfast, had the chilaquiles, they were good, but small portions. Very plain location, looked like they are trying to give this place a new wave look. This is a old converted house. Plain walls, plain fixture, reminded me of an empty room. Pricing was reasonable, menu had little choices, staff was friendly, but I had to call out several times to get service. Place was not full, so I know they were not busy.

Las Milpas is located east of central Tecate on the road to Mexicali. The menu is very extensive. Most orders will serve two people. The chimichangas are great as are the "burros"- giant burritos loaded with meat, potatoes and other goodies. The carne asada is the most tender I've ever had. This is where many of the locals go.The service is excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and it is open for breakfast and late lunch. I go with friends and we share each other's order. I've been there many times and the quality of the food and the value are hard to beat. Don't expect a fancy place. Free wi-fi was recently added.
Went to Tecate in the morning but heading back realized that the wait time to cross the border was 2 hrs. Decided to wait in the Mesón Tecate rather than the 2 hrs in line. I didn't eat but the food looked very good. They serve breakfast, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, "antojitos". They serve beer and wine. Pleasant garden.
Pleasant restaurant and motel. Sparsely decorated. Service good. Had Sunday brunch which had an omelette station, menudo, tortilla and chilaqile station, and assorted buffet dishes (enchiladas, fish, chicken, ribs, beans, etc). They had desserts and many juices for 180 pesos. Mt friend had a ribete steak withe potatoes and vegetables along with a spinach salad. They have a full bar. I had a Margarita that was very good.

This is a good place to drink a glass of wine with your friends or couple and have a good chat! It's a soft music place.

You can get some tasty carne asada tacos with fresh grilled meat here. If you're spending the day in Tecate and need some some good cheap eats, this is the place to go.

Malnalli is our new name, we are under new administration, we still keep the same concept of Prehispanic Inspiration dishes as POLOKOTLAN! The restaurant was born because of the pride we feel for our roots. We know of wealth in our culture and cuisine so w
A disappointment - choose wisely - NOT the "Mexican" cuisine you may be expecting. The reviews for this restaurant are overwhelmingly positive, and this review is rated two stars in part to give some balance to the overwhelmingly five star reviews already posted. Due to those numerous five star reviews, we went there with great expectations. But we ended up disappointed, in good part because we did not understand this restaurant. It is vital to understand that this is a restaurant focusing on pre-Hispanic (indigenous) food, not the traditional "Mexican" food that gringos expect and may be looking for. To be fair, the restaurant is very clean, and the service is exceptionally friendly. Again, on the positive side, I did have the opportunity to eat a taco featuring crickets as the primary "meat". (For the record, the cricket taco was "OK", but I am not likely to order cricket tacos in the future.) But the (very limited) menu is not the typical tacos, quesadillas, beans, seafood, etc. which a North American visitor may be expecting. In addition, the restaurant is located in an unattractive part of Tecate, far from the pleasant walking area near the central plaza. Credit cards not accepted; US dollars accepted.

This "maitre-d" guy kept coming up to us during our intimate dining experience and interrupting us, babbling at us. Finally on the fourth time right at dessert was served, here he comes again. at that point we just left, skipping our desserts and left.He was asking weird questions, such as "why do Americans come here" or something like that. very inappropriate.i asked our server "Jesus" who the guy was, and he kept telling me over and over the guy "does not work there". funny, but he sure acted like he did, when he seated us.This is so sad, we have eaten there several times before, and i even left them a previous outstanding TA review, which i have just requested be deleted.Maybe come here for breakfast, but certainly not dinner when the pesky maitre-d guy is there. And thanks for totally ruining a $100 meal on a very special occasion for us, not to mention a very expensive hotel night.NEVER AGAIN!

When a restaurant retains their number-1 spot in TripAdvisor, you naturally ask yourself if it's deserved or not. My wife and I were up there with family, visiting a few of the Tecate highlights, and lunch was on the list of yet-undecided.We decided on El Lugar de Nos. And, wow, we are glad we did.Excellent service, excellent food, large portions, and FABULOUS decor. Our server was bilingual and flipped between Spanish and English for us and our guests. Prompt attention was paid to the simple things, as well as the more complex. It was unquestionably excellent for a crowded afternoon. The food choices are diverse and have flavorful and imaginative recipes. We simply ate our way through appetizers. Beautiful tostadas, of octopus and tuna and lamb, oh my!As I said about portions - they're not shy. Feel free to consider splitting an entree. Are you bringing a large crowd? They have three sizes of "Mixed Grill" - it's food for anywhere from 6 to 12 people!Have your camera at the ready - the decor is American Yard Sale and it's really cool!
