Los Altos has caused me to reevaluate my Mexican food preferences and what authentic is and means. I'm coming to realize that I am truly a gabacho (Gustavo Arellano in Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America, says, only a gringo calls a gringo a gringo, a Mexican calls a gringo a gabacho). When my wife and I walked into Los Altos, we were the only gabachos in there. When we looked at the menu we were overwhelmed with new terms. For example, under tacos, we found asada and pollo and chile verde and pescado, all items we felt pretty comfortable with. But we also found pastor and carnitas and birria and trompa and tripa and buche and cabeza and cueritos and chicharron and other terms that we struggled to get our heads around. The tacos are $1.89 (with a few exceptions), come with two soft corn tortillas, one inside the other, diced onions, cilantro, green or red sauce (depending on the filling) and a lot of the specified filling. These put the tacos at my other favorite restaurants to shame, like La Costa and Mitla. They are large and very, very tasty. I've been back multiple times and tried them all, as well as some of the other menu items. This part of town is a little scary - I would only go there for lunch, not dinner. There are quite a few homeless people in the area and the predominant language is Spanish. But for an adventurous person that loves Mexican food, this is a great place and I can't recommend it highly enough.

We have been eating at Paco's Tacos for years. They have a few tables but most of their business is take-out.They have the best Mexican rice of any restaurant.Their tacos and enchiladas are good and their garbage burritos are very popular. The only thing I don't like is that they put potatoes in their ground beef. They are located near Cal State San Bernardino and their prices are excellent.
wow, great chili Verde burrito, Had mine with rice and cheese and it was one of the "best ever". Big enough for 2 people but I won't share mine. Go getcha one

We arrived in the afternoon / evening and were seated quickly. The server was polite and knowledgeable. We asked to move in the bar area and he moved us immediately. Our new server was the Bartender. He was quick, polite, efficient, and helpful. I believe his name was Nate. Our food was great tasting. We ate fajitas, chips and salsa. Delicious!!!!Michael, thank you so much for taking the time to send us this feedback. We love hearing about the great service and meal you received at our San Bernardino Chili's. We will share this feedback with the manager and look forward to your next visit.

We generally love eating here and never are disappointed with the service. We had reservations for 9:00 and were not seated for 2 hours. We even arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time and still waited two hours after our reserved time. Waiting this long for a reservation is unacceptable. Instead of taking so many reservations, it should be limited to how many the restaurant can handle. No updates have been given about how long the wait is if you have a reservation. A new reservation system should be used that utilizes the number of seats, and doesnât overbook.

I had heard a lot about this place and finally tried them. Watch out, the food is addictive. I ended up going there twice a week for five weeks. Sometimes, they put too much meat in the burritos and I don't recommend their French Fries. You can't beat their tacos or burritos. I suggest take out, the seating is horrible.

If you're looking for genuine Mexican food, with consistently good flavors, quality, and sauces, Lucy's is for you. We especially like the Burrito Ranchero, but they also have excellent enchiladas, rellenos, and combo plates. The staff here is helpful and courteous.

A family run business since 1951, I've been going there with family and friends since the early 70s. Yes, there is lots of great Mexican food in town, but the Mexico stands out as a well-run, respected and fun place with great food and drinks. Large enough for large gatherings, too, and has outdoor seating. Its longevity speaks volumes. Same manager since at least the 80s. Also, it's a favorite stop for the San Bernardino Police. I almost always get the Deluxe Burrito, a side of refried beans, and a rocks margarita. Once thing I did notice this last time was the beans missed a bit of flavor this time. Working there in the 80s, I saw that they added a large amount of lard to the pot of beans - so curious if they backed off on that.

On our way to Tucson, AZ we realized we were close to San Bernardino so we headed south and found the restaurant. We had eaten here before when we stayed at the WigWam Motel and they recommended the Cafe for dinner. Lunch on this trip was really good again. Must stop if you like Mexican food and doing any portion of Route 66.
