Maybe I am missing something, because the great reviews brought us to this place. But really?? The place is a mess. Unclean, sticky tables (after being bussed), filthy floors, a menu that is almost all fried stuff. Plus the place SMELLS like fried grease. Ugh. We walked in and walked out. I wouldn't eat free food there.

Homemade and delicious. The service was amazing. We went early for dinner and had the outside almost to ourselves. Peaceful, quiet, exactly what we were looking for. Chips and salsa were winners. Combo fajitas and cheese enchiladas also perfect. The kind of place you might just eat at again the next day.

Good TexMex food for the most part. But, gruesome atmosphere. Felt like I was in a time-warp in some Quentin Tarantino movie eating In a converted bowling alley with the vampires/whatever characters ready to pop-out at any moment. Plenty of local Mexican places to dine at that are much more pleasant. Too bad because the management & staff were really nice. But, short of total demolition, there's just not much they can do to fix the issues here. Gave them a overall 3; it's a mix of 4 for food/service & a 1 for facility/atmosphere/ambiance.

I had the shredded beef burrito smothered in green chili. My wife had the chicken enchiladas with green chili. We took it to go. It was really, really good. I eat food everyday so believe me; you should go get some food from La Hacienda! Real casual. Laid back place. Nice folks

This is our "go-to" place for New Mexico mexican food when in Ruidoso! Our family has been coming here for years. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the wait staff are always so friendly. â¥

We stopped in for lunch at Ole Taco and it didn't go very well from there. Our server who said she is related to the owners, greeted us fairly sourly. Then she got one order out four correct. When we asked for an extra taco she brought a complete platter dinner so we went ahead and paid for that as well as the 3 incorrect orders because its simpler. The food was pretty good but isn't as authentic as they would like to make you believe. My recommendation . . . pass on by.

Mrs Pena was working hard and all the tables were full. We were able to sit down simply because someone was leaving when we walked in.If you are in a hurry, don't stop at Pena's; but, if you want an amazing meal (we stopped for breakfast) and have the time to enjoy your meal, Pena's is a must.Very clean, great service, excellent food! Mrs. Pena clearly loves serving others....
We are locals and this was the first time to Chef Lupeâs. The service was good & server was very friendly. Wife and I ordered the #1 combination plate. Crispy shredded beef taco, chicken enchilada and chile relleno. The food was edible. Seemed as if the items were pre made and then warmed up. Both of our plates were almost to the burnt stage. We wonât return.

Everything was made fresh when you order. My al pastor taco was decent, but definitely next time I would order the torta. The bread is buttery and soft, and the inside was delicious. Get the Mexican apple soda! Service was decent as well! A good casual lunch spot! Thanks, hope to see you again soon!

Smaller size cafe and open for breakfast and lunch. Friendly and efficient servers and a large menu. We ate breakfast several times here while on vacation. Primarily Mexican menu with many choices. Good omelets and Chiliquilles and quite reasonable. But request the pork chop not overcooked - my husbandâs was like shoe leather.
