Things to do in Ridgewood
When I first saw the name I thought it was a chain restaurant...WRONG! This restaurant is owned by Laurie who was living in California and brings with her experience from previous restaurants and mother's recipes to delight all of us Ridgewood folks! The toppings are all fresh. We absolutely loved this placet! We tried the nachos plain ($9.95), the Soo-Cal Burrito ($10.95), a side of corn ($4) and a taco with carnitas on a corn tortilla ($4). Sauces are mother's recipe. The chips for the nachos are deep fried there from corn tortillas from California and are piled high with deliciousness! I was expecting the corn I ordered to be Corn on the Cob but it's actually served in a bowl which makes it easier to eat. You may think that $11 bucks for a burrito is a lot but really it is a meal in itself! She stuffs it halfway with the meat! Then you have the other toppings sharing space in the burrito to make it evenly distributed to delight your tastebuds! The taco had two tortillas so you can make two if you wish that. Laurie is a pleasure just to have in the neighborhood and you can tell she loves the area and all of us here. (I believe local businesses on Myrtle get discounts.) This place is a true gem! I am hoping that after more time she will expand her menu to give us all that she's got. The seating: I believe three small bar tables that fit two people each plus a seating in front of the window. Of course now there are also outdoor seats in front!

Chavelaâs is a really nice Mexican restaurant. The decor and ambience is awesome. And the service is great. Itâs walk in only so come early. They have happy hour till 7pm. The tacos are good. We had the enchiladas, which we liked. And we really liked the street corn dish.

Great little Mexican gem in LIC. Great atmosphere, amazing service, and really delicious and tasty food. In addition, prices are very affordable, especially for the high quality and service you get. For instance the tacos and the enchiladas were amazing. I would definitely recommend and go back.

Mexican food. You can find it on google maps or just google. I've been there many times. It's a hole in the wall type of place but it has the best mexican food. Definitely a Soho type of place.
We went here and tried almost everything! We had the three tacos ($9) with Steak, chicken, carnitas. Then we had the 3 taquitos which we picked the steak, salted beef, and spicy pork. We also tried the the tostada with steak ($3), quesadilla with spicy pork ($5), picadas with carnitas ($5). Plus, to drink we had the Jarritos Tamarind ($2) and Sangria Senorial. The taquitos are basically just really small tacos so unless you don't have much of an appetite or just want to try different meats then I would get the larger tacos. The tortillas are made fresh to order. They are all corn tortillas. The taquitos had these small tortillas that were really cute. the quesadilla took longer to make but they made the tortilla fresh and it was larger. These are the unique items that I wold suggest even though they are a little more...they are more filling though so worth the extra money. The picadas had a thicker larger tortilla and looked like a tostada. The tostada was the regular corn tortilla but fried and with beans. What I liked the best were the picadas and the tostada. Both with the steak. I didn't care for the Tamarind soda but I liked the Sangria (non alcoholic).

I figured to give it a try since I live near-by.Ordered the fish tacos & shrimp tacos . Extremely tasty , just wish they were a bit larger. Either way, I would just get a couple extra to satisfy my needs !! I'll go back in a second..

If you are from the west coast, gotta watch Spanish-named restaurants in NYC. They come in all varieties (Columbian, Peruvian, Honduran, etc.) and few seem to be like the California-fied Mexican restaurants we have in the west. Fajitas Sunrise is a classic Mexican Restaurant in the western tradition. Food is great and plentiful. I would have given them 5 stars, if the service had been a little better.
