Candelario's is mainly a carry out or eat outside joint. There is one table inside and a picnic table outside. Ranchera music on the radio and the staff speaks Spanish among themselves. I thought it was great! My carnitas burrito was very tasty and not too spicy.

The limited menu indicates they serve "New Mexican" food. If so, I much prefer the old Mexican found elsewhere. Our meals were lackluster, the chile sat unfinished when we left. There are few other restaurant options in Raton, but I'd suggest you try them first.

We plugged in our gps for Alfonso's and it kept bringing us to a gas station so it was hard to find. Fast food counter with a few seats. I found the food average.

I'm always skeptical to have any seafood dish in a town far away from the ocean. Not being a meat eater I took a chance. Jackpot!!! Great in flavor, easy on the pocket and so filling. Many other quick eats and well known for their shaved ice. Thank you so much for your business! We hope to exceed your expectations every visit! We appreciate your kind words and look forward to seeing you again!

Good food, friendly service, BUT slow service apparently driven by kitchen. Obviously popular with locals, most diners seemed to know each other. That you for your nice review and glad to hear the service was friendly and the food was good. I apologize for the slow service out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, it was a staffing issue and one that I have hopefully resolved. We hope to see you again!

When you can figure out the hours of this little place, the food is really pretty good.Decor could use a definite face lift and brightening up. Has the potential to be a cute place, but looks like nobody cares.Service is slow and when the waitress finally came after we sat down, she brought a small amount of chips and small serving of salsa, took our order then disappeared. She brought our food out after about a half hour and then told us that the sopapillas were not ready yet. When they finally were brought out, we only got 2 for the four of us. Who does that in New Mexico ? Very strange. Not a bad place, but they would never survive in a town with more competition.
