Wow, we were so blown away by this place. We visited in Summer 2016 on a road trip through Oregon and eastern Washington, and just stumbled across this absolutely perfect authentic restaurant on our drive to the Canadian border. The food was phenomenal as was the service and atmosphere. I would do anything to visit this restaurant again!

Friends in Omak and I have visited El Portal on several occasions in past several years. Yes, it is not the "hot spot" downtown but also not noisy and crowded seating. El Portal family-owned and whether the youngest generation helping out decides to stay in the business, too soon to say. Keeping it simple, good food. Reasonable selection of beers. I'm a chicken mole devotee most places. If acceptable to great, I'm a repeat customer and willing to try other entrees. We will keep coming back!

We routinely get great service here. I always order my meal "Al fresco" for a healthier version of the combo's Its no longer listed on their menu, but they always make it available when I request it.The food always tastes fresh, and is served very quickly, making it a good spot to grab a quick bite when we're travelling through and don't want to lose a lot of time.
We have eaten here several times over the last 10 years and always enjoy the food. Huge servings and authentic Mexican cooking. The family is very friendly and love to hold a conversation. This is a wonderful place to eat for true Mexican fare.
