In town for a show at the Theater Downtown. Our choice of food was overbooked, walked out of a Chinese restaurant for lack of service and were restricted on time. GPS found this place a few blocks away. Good choice. Service and food were great. Chips and Salsa. Yum. spicy, yet not overbearing. Good portions, and reasonable prices. My only comment would be the steak was a little salty for my taste, but had good flavor. Not a fancy place by any means, just good food. And a plus, the ladies bathroom was spotless!

I love this place. It is nothing fancy, but a whole in the wall restraunt, but the food is great. It is made to order and always fresh. I have not been let down. After a long day of work and you want a real taco, enchilada, etc. this is the place I would go. Family owned and just over all good food. Have a great seafood selection as well. Just give it a try and see for yourself.
We heard about this place from the locals. It is literally an unmarked back door of another restaurant. They serve Mexican food that is out of this world. You can customize the meat, sauce, and extras to fit your tastes. There is some indoor sitting but also lovely outdoor seating. A truly enjoyable experience.

How many places offer roasted iquana? Seriously varied menu, food was well-prepared (though cerviche was chopped too fine for my taste). Service was a bit spotty. Went before a concert at the Genesee and told the waitress our timing, but had to keep flagging her down. Still, worth checking out.
What a great atmosphere and welcoming staff, we had the pleasure of having Oswaldo as our waiter and he so engaging even offering us a sampling of michelada due to the fact we were gringos .
The great thing about Chipotle is that there is a consistancy in the food quality no matter where you go. When I need that healthy Mexican food fix they never let me down. Lots of good food for a good price. This location even offers margaritas! A great way to wind down after a hard day of training.

Momcorn is a family owned Mexican Taqueria. We offer a variety of unique dishes using traditional and fresh ingredients. Many of our loyal customers love that we offer gluten free ,traditional , and vegan options. The team at Momcorn works very hard to br
Met a friend nearby who had an appt and stopped at Momcorn after reading they had GF and Vegan choices. We both had the vegan jibarito (al pastor eggplant and plaintain yumminess on a plate). So filling, comforting and tasty. Also had the veggie tamal and it was delicious. We had a homemade passion fruit drink with hints of cinnamon and clove, it was great. The guacamole was so good. What was outstanding was the service we were given! So many helpful answers to our questions and very kind and personable. Will tell others and come again for sure!

As far as taquerias go (and there are plenty to choose from in Waukegan), Toluca is the best due to its extensive menu (including plenty of vegetarian options), quick service and ambience/live entertainment. My husband always gets the burrito al pastor, and I have tried several seafood dishes. If you are overwhelmed by the choices in Mexican restaurants in Waukegan, head to Toluca #2 (the one on Washington Street near Butrick). The only negative is that they have no parking lot.
Had a carne asada taco salad. The salad mix had carrots and cucumbers in it, not something typical in a Mexican salad. The salad was very wet and the shell and meat greasy. I'd try this place one more time, but its going to be at the bottom of my priorities.
