Mi Pubelo II

We had heard good things about the restaurant from the locals so we gave it a try. We were extremely disappointed. First, the chips were stale. I ordered chicken fajitas and I am used to having the chicken seasoned well and having the vegetables seared and a little charred. The vegetables were barely cooked, and the chicken did not have any seasoning tasting close to spices used in Mexican food. Instead the chicken and vegetables came in a tomato based broth that had no flavor. I also have never had fajitas with tomatoes. I didn't like the addition. Pretty blah and tasteless food. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I can not in good conscious recommend this place.

We had lunch here. My son and I had a seafood chimichanga and my husband and I had fish tacos. I have to admit I didn't expect much because it is a small town in a very rural area but the food was tasty and well made and the seafood was fresh. Service was good too.

Yikes, their pulled pork was incredibly good. So many times you get a sammie that has just been roasted and slathered with sauce. Not these bad boys. The smoke flavor was front and center, and not overpowered by their house sauce. Delicious. Sides we had were well prepared, too. It was near to closing when we stopped by, and they were pretty much out of everything else on the menu, other than burgers. Ladies and gents, that tells me to get here early next time. But dang it, they are a two hour drive from home. Nice family, and a savory menu. Looks like Newport is gonna keep these guys open, and that's a great thing...

Our group of about 10 people chose this restaurant for lunch during the Timber Days festival in Priest River. I guess it was because there were more diners than usual and that they simply were not used to having that many people in the restaurant at one time. We had to wait about an hour for our food, and it seemed that the organization was not optimal; maybe they just needed more staff during those busy days(?) When the food finally arrived, I didn't think it was anything special. If I lived in the area, I would give them another chance during a less busy time. By the way, when did Mexican become a politically incorrect word. Mexico has a culturally fascinating and very rich history; in my opinion one quite a bit more exciting than that of Spain. So why does he questionaire ask "Is this a Spanish restaurant. No - it is a Mexican restaurant. In Mexico Spanish is spoken. There's a big difference. I'm sure the restaurants in Spain would think so too!
