Things to do in Monroe
I stopped here for dinner one night. Had a regular, beef, soft taco meal. The restaurant was clean. The food was brought out to my table hot, and fresh. While I did find the meal sizing/pricing somewhat confusing, the young lady who took my order was very polite, and friendly.
Find your nearby Taco Bell at 19025 State Route 2 in Monroe. We're serving all your favorite menu items, from classic burritos and tacos, to new favorites like the $5 Double Stacked Tacos Box, Crunchwrap Supreme, Fiesta Taco Salad, and Chalupa Supreme. So
I work close to Taco Bell so decided to run in for a quick lunch. Stephanie greeted me warmly and handled my order quickly. My meal was two cool ranch DLT. Price was good, and they were tasty. Nothing fancy but decent. I stopped at restroom on way out and it was immaculately clean.

Dinner with friends was the reason for the visit. We have seen this location change from another style restaurant to a Mexican food place and thought we would try it out. Service was average. A friend had suggested we get the Verde salsa to go along with our chips. I had asked our server about it and he said they didn't have it. We stated our frind had just been there and had some but he insisted that they don't have it. When our drinks arrived I asked that server about the Verde salsa and he said "sure, I'll get some for you". Our server never said anything about it when he saw it on our table but also didn't come by again until we were done. The menu was very pedestrian. I was hoping for something special or maybe different than all of the standard American version of Mexican food but alas no.There are many better restaurants in the Monroe area, and my favorites are on Main Street. I would direct you there before trying El Lago.
Tres Marias is just off the main highway, definitely worth it. Best Mexican in town. We have maybe 8 Mexican places, counting taco trucks and a couple of tacquerias, and this is the best. Try the seafood stew, fish tacos are excellent.

Located in a strip mall behind Fred Meyer, this unassuming little place is serving the best Mexican food around. There was an older Mexican lady in the kitchen smiling at us while she was making incredible looking Sopes. The menu was really interesting with dishes that simply aren't available at other Mexican restaurants. There's even lengua and cabezas as menu choices. There's Huarache. We decided on shredded pork Sopes and Ceviche Tostadas made with lime cured shrimp. When our food was served, the waitress also brought four homemade salsas in individual bowls. One was complex but hot enough to start wildfires. I loved it.The Sopes shells were large and handmade and amazing. This place should be standing-room only. I think we liked La Bamba.

Finding this place was a little tricky because Las Tres Marias is the sign above the door. We liked this place so well that we ate here Both nights we were in Monroe. Husband had steak ranchero that tasted as if it had been grilled before slathering with sauce. I had a well seasoned molcajete. The golden margaritas were excellent and the staff very attentive. We will definitely eat here again!
Monroe is a town I pass through on my way up and back along Hwy2. El Rey is one of those nondescript places in a strip mall that I thought I would take a chance on. Been there twice now and it is excellent. On my most recent visit I had the Chicken Enchiladas in Mole sauce. The Mole was one of the best I've had. They have a varied menu that I am looking forward to trying more of. The people are nice and the service is quick. I can't say it's the best in Monroe since I haven't tried much else there. What I can say is that if you hungry of real Taqueria style Mexican and want to get back on the road you should be happy!

We travel to the Yucatan a couple times a year, but when we are home this is our local place for good Mexican food and service. Always treated like family and great food! Check out the specials and anyone of the soups. The menu has all the "American" standbys but even those are more flavorful and authentic. Even the rice and beans are great.

My friend was extremely excited that the chips were refilled when they were only halfway gone. It's the little things. We got two margaritas, definitely check the menu cause they have at least ten different ones. He got the pork Verde, a little dry, and I got a veggie burrito which was really good!

Owners Jesus Magaña and his wife Lulis were born in the states of Michoacan and Zacatecas, Mexico and moved to Monroe. They opened their first restaurant, Mi Tierra in February 2001. The restaurant has earned it's way into the heart of locals and visitors
Really nice service and good quality/quantity, but this is a Mexican-American eatery with very little authentically prepared dishes. If you want rice, beans & salsa - this is a place you'll like. If you want REALLY authentic taste for the food & margaritas you will be disappointed. While it may be the highest rated of it's type - Mi Tierra has a ways to go to earn a better review. The "Street Tacos" with pork el pastor had a strong pepper taste with no pineapple to balance and the pork was way overcooked. The best dish was a nicely prepared Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo. We will likely give this place another try.
