Traveling from Frio River back home to Houston we stopped for breakfast. This family run business is clean and fresh! The Prices were amazing for the authentic Mexican choices as well as the delicious French toast and pancakes. We ordered more as we ate! It was THAT good. The Huevos Rancheros- with refried beans and homemade tortillas -outstanding. Best refried beans I've had ever. Don't miss this little gem in Hondo.

This place is pretty authentic Mexican and has a very wide selection. The tortillas and chips are very good as is the red and green sauces. Service and speed of food delivery is always top notch and they are careful to carry the right condiments. The restaurant is almost always busy but we have never had to wait for a seat and food comes right out.

So so Mexican. We have eaten there many times and the place is OK but nothing special. They also do not have any condiments normally associated with a Mexican meal so if you like some Louisiana hot sauce on your food, bring your own. George L:Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Sorry about not having Louisiana hot sauce available. On the plus side I believe we are the only local restaurant that provides a complimentary appetizer (free chips and salsa) with your dine in meal. Our salsa is purposely made "mild" since we serve it to so many people including children. We can provide you a complimentary "hotter" sauce. Just ask our servers for it. Thanks again and thanks for being a great customer.
We had breakfast at Olivia's. The food was not bad. The egg/toast/bacon breakfast was bland, but the eggs were cooked exactly as requested. The breakfast tacos were very good. The coffee is diner coffee - not particularly strong but free flowing. And the wait staff refills regularly. The diner is definitely a hole in the wall - but not in a good way. The cafe tables are rickety and placed very close together. The tables are covered in a plastic cover that was cracked, stained and grimy at the table where we sat. Plus there are open bowls of salsa on each table that are not changed with each customer. The place was packed and we had a long wait before our food was served. The prices are reasonable, but the long wait and grimy tables will keep me from going back. If these things don't bother you, you might like this restaurant.
A friend said this was the place to eat in Hondo. A mexican food joint with mediocre service and mediocre food. Nothing to write home about. My friend has different tastes than I do evidently and isn't into good Mexican food. The enchiladas were soupy and the chicken reminded me of a Swanson pot pie. The clad was Ok but it was luke warm. The tacos were served on day old tacos.
