Reviews on Mexican food in Gilroy, California, United States. Santa Clara
Things to do in Gilroy
We were looking for a quick lunch stop off Hwy. 101 near Gilroy and intending to get off near a few fast food places took the wrong exit, but while getting back to 101 we spotted this little place in a small shopping center\ and had a much better meal than we would have at the fast food places. Gaeta's is unappealing from the outside, but go in and have some really good Mexican food. I had a bean and cheese burrito -- it was really big, nicely seasoned, and tasted great! My husband's fish taco was huge, and covered with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and he said it was delicious. Best Mexican food we've had in years -- and very reasonable prices -- and the man who took our orders was kind and helpful.

Skip all the Americanized Mexican restaurants, fast food, and chains. Go here to get Mom's cooking. All your favorite meats are there including:ham, pork, brisket, chicken, steak, and.....tongueheadtripe.Indoor seating, but you might have wait. Order at the counter, find a seat, pickup when called. Brightly lit, simple tables, no booths...not at all romantic but functional.Line goes out the door at mealtime. Lots of "to gos" too.My 13 y/o grandson picked this for his birthday dinner, he'd been here with friends.Three locations in the area.

I was traveling to the Central Valley today and was super hungry after skipping breakfast. I didn't want to deviate off my travel plans to much when I saw this place located just off the 152 highway in Gilroy. It features Mexican food with a big focus on seafood. They also have all the traditional Carna Asada and Pollo dishes too....Service was great...People were friendly and food was fast. Lots of seating and salsa bar and chips are complimentary too. Make this your next stop when traveling through Gilroy and want some hearty Mexican food quickly!

This is a real Hole in the Wall type of place. No frills small but packed with locals. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. I hosted a party for my daughters baptism and boy was I in for a rude awakening. Beware when hosting a party at this location especially the Manager Marlene she is such a rude and unprofessional person. Anyhow I called in asked if our party can arrive 15 Mins early I was informed âYesâ when I got to the location with my huge party all hell broke from there. I mean there were a few servers who were trying to be as helpful as they can be but the two that were supposed to be assisting me were rude all I heard was your to early (15 mins) and that I was in the wrong all I wanted was at least water served and chip and salsa. When I asked about the food she kept saying 4pm and it was 4:15pm when I asked about Sodas it was my fault. Never once does she take responsibility for her actions. I have had several people host parties at this location before and said they never seen such rudeness and unprofessional and unorganized people. NEVER AGAIN, and I am spreading the world like a wild fire. STAY AWAY... SAVE YOURSELF the HEADACHES and GO ELSEWHERE..

The dine-in menu offers some great Mexican food and I recommend the enchiladas with red sauce. Their real specialty are the carnitas. They are some of the best around and the long queue for take away on a Saturday afternoon attests to that! The restaurant is located on the main drag in downtown Gilroy. If you are passing by on Hwy 101, pull off and enjoy the food. You will not regret it.

One of the authentic Mexican restaurants in Gilroy, with a very vibrant and local customer base. The choices and prices are terrific and the food always tasty. Come for the food, not the ambiance.

Food lacked flavor. Salsa was runny tomato sauce. Guac needed salt. The chips were just ok. The 2 soft tacos were tasteless with the least amt chicken i've ever had in a taco. Think " My little sister made this". I don't taste any old family recipes here. The staff are nice. I guess it's cheap, but you get what you pay for.
