In all my years here, I've never been here. I've had tamales from here one time that someone got to-go and they were really good. I've seen the long lines (especially around holidays) and I've seen it empty (like tonight, before closing). After my daughter's softball game at Brook I stopped by. Just me. About 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday.Got 6 spicy pork tamales to go, with chips and queso. I've heard so many good things about everything here. Well, I can tell you so far all the hype holds up! Tamales were excellent. Queso is wonderful. Large bag of chips, good helping of queso, and 6 spicy pork tamales came to $8.25. No complaints - that was way more than I can snarf down for dinner. But I wanted to eat every bit of it.They take credit cards now. Place is clean. Owner / operator in the truck was very friendly and gave good info, advice, and service. He knew immediately I was not a regular and asked if I wanted any info on any of his food items. If memory serves me, salsas were $1.50 each (large tub), queso was $3, and tamales were $8 / dozen either piping hot or frozen.I give this place an A+. I can't wait to come back to try their salsas which friends rave about (both red and green) and other types of tamales. And am now kicking myself for not coming here years ago.

Disclosure: I am not a fan of Tex-Mex, simply because there are so many better choices in authentic Mexican or Central/South American foods. Having said that, my daughter and I stopped in here for lunch after a long session at the gun range. We were starving and wanted a margarita as well. Were quickly seated, brought waters and took drink orders (their house marg rocks/salt are really pretty good). We decided to split an order of nachos compuestos. They were served quite quickly, so clearly everything was already hot and just waiting to be layered on the tortilla chips. There was nothing fancy, grand, or special about this, they just tasted good. I've had other food in here in the past, it too was pretty tasty--just mostly standard Tex-Mex fare. Friendly and popular local place, and I kind of like it (as opposed to another local place--Gringo's--which is simply horrid).

La Casita is a Friendswood institution built on families and food. The owners started the restaurant many many years ago, as it was told to me, after the kids would come over from the High school for lunch. Word spread & eventually they converted the front of the house into a restaurant. The years have gone by the entire house and many additions later, it is bigger but the food & family atmosphere remain. If you live in or around F'Wood you must visit. The food is good ("hot plate!!"), slathered in brown gravy & cheese, it is filling & comforting. The drinks are well made. Bring your family & leave happy, full, & without draining your wallet.

Over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of eating at La Escondido several times - with both friends and family. We love this restaurant! While there are always people enjoying meals, we have not had any trouble getting seated quickly and being served immediately. I have enjoyed both dinner and now brunch, and the food has been fabulous every time. For brunch, you can either get the buffet - which is a nice selection including an omelette bar as well as a pancake/waffle bar - or you can order different platters off the menu. For lunch and dinner, they offer a good selection of straight up Mexican food as well as some dishes that are a healthier option (like Pollo San Luis) - and they usually have daily specials that they will tell you about. The service has been good each time I've been there, and the first time I took my family, they brought us the BEST sopapillas we've had! If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant, definitely check out La Escondido in Friendswood!

1/2 off fajita night was a nice surprise and it was delicious! I had veggie fajita - fresh, nicely grilled, and great rice and guacamole to go with it! Husband and kids had the beef and chicken combo - yum! Great margaritas and our daughter raved about the queso! Amazing service and ask for a hot salsa - they made it fresh for us! Perfection!

I have been going to Gringo's for about 15 years and I have never had anything to find fault with. Yes it is crowded and there is normally a long wait but that is the price you pay for having great food and good service.
