Find out what Mexican restaurants to try in Essen. Essen began in the mid-9th century as home to a women's abbey, then during the Renaissance became an important coal mining town and later a major steel production center. The famed metal-working Krupp family opened their first foundry here in 1810. One of Essen's most interesting places is the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, once the largest colliery in the world. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it attracts 800,000 visitors a year, often hosting art exhibitions and performances.
Things to do in Essen
I heard the owners of Tofino, which I love by the way, opened this other restaurant so me and my friends went to try it out. We ordered the salmon tacos, the burritos, Italian meatballs sandwich and the fries with bacon and maple syrup and the fries with pulled pork ribs. The food was nice but it was a bit meh. It's supposed to be half-street food restaurant and half-bar but the options were limited to some Mexican fares, sandwiches and a reinvented fries with pulled pork ribs (I love the fries with pulled pork in Tofino). There are not many exciting street food in the menu.To be honest I feel like the owners got lazy here. It feels like Tofino. The menu style and presentation is the same. The utensils are the same. The plating is almost the same. Some of the food has better version in Tofino (pulled pork for example). It's nice but I probably won't eat here again. I'll happily eat again in Tofino though.

as the weather was good so wanted to sit out and eat and as most of the other joints surrounding it are cafes so thought why not try some Mexican but I would say that the food here was just average and everything fried so not so healthy food and we did not enjoy the food too heavy
