We tried Pecina's during our most recent trip to El Reno, and although we enjoyed the experience, it didn't "blow us away."It's a cute little restaurant (emphasis on little) just southwest of the downtown district. We enjoyed the decor and were really impressed by how clean both inside and outside were.Employees were pleasant and professional but a little standoffish. They clearly had developed rapport with other customers who came while we were there. I suppose those other people were regulars. Some reviews raved about their white queso. It really is good. The tortilla chips we received were among the best we've ever had. They weren't greasy at all. We received another cheesy dip that was also tasty. Their salsa was better than average but not great. The big problem is they brought very little of each, and didn't refill any of the cups. Our servers weren't around enough to ask for more, and quite frankly I didn't know if they would give extra. After our entree arrived people at another table asked for and received refills. I suppose we should have asked, but we shouldn't have been put into that position. We chose a double order of mixed fajitas for our main course. Their menu boasted about special preparation techniques and special spices, so we were primed to experience something delightful. The meat was tender and tasty, but a lot saltier than at other restaurants. Portion size was small. At most places we have trouble finishing a SINGLE order of fajitas, but had no trouble eating all of Pecina's DOUBLE order. For $27.50 we expected more product...at least as much as at other Tex-Mex places.A couple of items were rather disappointing. Our fajitas were served with thin tortillas that seemed to have come from a tortilleria...or maybe a food supply company. And instead of real butter they served a "whipped 40% vegetable oil spead" for tortillas. The bottom line:We live about 40 miles from El Reno but make it there a few times each year. As a treat we'll sometimes drive that far to eat at an extraordinary place. We were hoping Pecina's would be that kind of "destination" restaurant. While Pecina's is worth another visit if we're in the area for other reasons, I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here. Next time we stop in we'll remember lessons learned from this visit, and order differently.

It is what it is. The floor was dirty. Two waitresses were working their butts off. My order took forever. I ordered a jalisco dinner. A Chile relleno, burrito, tamale, and an enchilada. At almost 40 minutes it finally arrived. It was quite tasty. It was also inexpensive (less than ten bucks). So if you can overlook the dirty floor, it's a good place for some authentic tex-mex.
I am a taco mayo lover. It's kind of an Oklahoma thing, but not for everyone. This is one of the worst locations in the state. It usually has a meth head or two working or dining in it. The food is average at best and it's usually dirty inside. Need I say more?
Just keep driving. Donât waste your time. The cheese dip is nasty. The salsa is runny and just a tomato purée. We ordered a double fajita. They didnât put sour cream on the plates. The fajitas had no bell peppers. The onions were raw and we set them back to have them cooked longer. The âcooksâ deep fried them instead of putting them back on the grill. Made them burnt and crispy. The âsausageâ in the fajitas are a cheap nasty polish sausage. No Chorizo here. Itâs too expensive I guess. Four small pieces of chicken were in the double fajitas. The steak was tougher than sun dried boot leather. The shrimp was over cooked and rubbery. Basically it was a plate of deep fried onions, tough steak, over cooked shrimp and no chicken. The size is the âdouble orderâ was the same size as a normal order in every other restaurant. Very disappointing. What a waste of $40 for dinner. Avoid the disappointment and hit Taco Mayo next door. Itâs fast food over there but at least you get food worth eating.
