We went there for typical Mexican food. And we were not disappointed. This is part museum, part restaurant. But it is 100% fantastic food. At least what we had.I had 2 Chimichangas (tortilla closed at both ends, stuffed and fried). 1 was with Chicken and red mole sauce, the other was picadillo with green sauce. Both were fantastic but the porc one (Picadillo) was my favourite. My fiancée had tinga de pollo (chicken prepared as pulled pork) Rice and frijoles.WE had beer to go with this meal. The service was great, the restaurant was really clean.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Hay un montón de panes para elegir. Todos son buenos y todos son artesanales. Los precios son accesibles aunque a veces tienes que corretear a la gente para que te facture.

The Durango, Durango, Mexico (Durango, Colorado was named after it) one of the oldest cities in the Western Hemisphere (450 years old) has finally started to attract the tourist trade it deserves following the construction of the new highway from Mazatlan. One of its many attractions is very authentic Mexican food (sorry no Tex-Mex here). An excellent addition is Mendoza's. It is situated in the wonderful old historic district, and is a restaurant and a museum of many artifacts from the 1940's or so. They are tastefully displayed behind glass cases with good lighting. The menu has many very typical Mexican dishes, which will be an adventure for those unacquainted with the wide variety of the real thing. The service was exceptional and the restaurant itself is like the interior of an old hacienda with many different rooms with varying ambiance to choose from. The restaurant is run by four generations of Mendoza family "to make sure that things are run right." Entertainment is available in the evening, for example in a few days there will be show about the history of the tango. This is a unique little gem.

On a day tour from Mazatlan the tour company took us to La Victoria for lunch. Everyone in the group received the same meal, which was a combination of three Mexican dishes. The food was quite good, especially the burrito portion, but not really outstanding. The restaurant is quite large and was quite busy serving locals. It is located near the centre of the city along a neat, clean street. The staff appear to be limited in their ability to speak English, but that does not usually cause too much of a problem. Three of our group ordered an espresso, hoping for a strong coffee, but received vanilla ice cream with espresso poured over it. It was very good, but not quite what they expected.

El Zocabon is a great Mexican restaurante only a few steps from the central plazuela, Plaza de Armas, in Durango, Mexico. We had 2 breakfasts there and 2 dinners, all very good. The place is very clean, the staff friendly and efficient. We tried the comida del dia the second day and found everything excellent, the soup was great, my husband had fish which he said was better than the fish he had had in Mazatlan, the quantities were very generous, and the price was right. If you happen to like tequila, try the Mezcal - Agave Duranguensis, very smooth. The owner told us he had had it specially distilled for him and it had been aged in oak barrels for over 4 years. We will definitely eat there the next time we go back to Durango.

We visited this restaurant as part of a tour from Mazatlan, Our meals were per-ordered but were fantastic. The service was friendly and good. This establishment was very popular with the local an a Friday afternoon. I have a dietary concern and the staff here was very accommodating to make sure my needs were met. We would recommend this restaurant to any traveler.

El restaurante está instalado en una casa construida durante el Porfiriato en el Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Durango. Además de ofrecer una comida con sabor a siglos, refleja en sus diversos espacios el orgullo de nuestra historia y por nuestra idios
Great service and great food. Recommended by a friend. The repurposed mansion provides a unique dining experience. We had an intimate table on second floor overlooking what would have been the courtyard. Excellent musicians played below later in evening. Diners are seated in numerous rooms connected by stairways and doorways, allowing separation of typical large family groups from those anticipating a more intimate evening. Decor emphasizes local antiques, and examining what's hanging on the walls will entertain. Our waiter was informative and attentive. We started with a delicious calamari appetizer, shared a salad of tender fresh greens vegetables, then had great mains and dessert. My companion had fresh tuna, deftly seared and rare, with that distinctive spicy taste, perfect. My chicken mole was excellent, with the nutty flavor coming through. New enjoyed the music as we finished our wine and dessert. Truly a great evening. Just a note, we made reservations for 7:30, and although the place seemed empty when we arrived, it was full when we left. Local folks dine late here.

We visited this restaurant on Trip Advisors review. Stood inside the restaurant for a few minutes and saw very few eating. There was someone ahead of us waiting. No host. A waiter acknowledged us. More people arrived and we stood there. Also the restaurant was very dark; hard for me to see. We gave up and left.As we stood there discussing where to go another patron left the restaurant complaining of the service. The food, they said, was OK but was not worth the poor service. They decided to continue their dinner somewhere else.
