Stopped in here on a whim and so glad we did! As others have stated, the chips and salsa were great! The customer service is awesome. The food is spicy! I had the shrimp tacos and while I only had two bites (way to spicy for me!) the flavor was great. The beans and rice were so good. Since I wasn't able to eat the tacos, management comped me my meal! Totally wasn't expecting that but just a sign of the great customer service.

I love going to locally owned restaurants, especially Mexican restaurants. The chips at this place are the absolute best! Thin and light. The salsa very good too. We did order some con queso as well, gobbled it down with a second basket of chips.I had the chicken burritos. Two medium size, with a red sauce on top. Excellent entrée.Folks, if you are near the airport, this is a spot you should try.

We had a decent experience here. Had a wait on a Saturday evening but we wandered around the area before it was time to eat. The food was pretty good but slightly overpriced (as I'd imagine most places around downtown are).

Located in the ultra-hip South Congress area of Austin this iconic taco bar Mexican restaurant is one of the very best in Austin and one of my all-time favorites. They have great food amazing service and some of the best margaritas in town. They have a huge indoor seating area, a nice front porch with misters right out on the street to watch everybody go by, and interviewed outdoor seating area with live music. They have a big parking garage behind the restaurant that does validate parking and gives you enough time to walk around down on South Congress check out all the cool shops.

The food was pretty good. I asked for chips because I hadn’t eaten in 9 hours and was told they didn’t have them. Then later the served chips to the woman at the next table. I have written this review while waiting for my bill after asking for it. Eh, don’t need to come back here. Unfortunately, we don't serve complimentary chips and salsa. We do offer chips with guacamole and ceviche, which is what the guest at the other table ordered. We understand that the experience can be frustrating when you haven't eaten in a while, but we hope you'll consider giving us another try on your next visit when you're in town.Best,El Naranjo Team

We chose El Alma randomly because it had a rooftop patio. We had to wait nearly an hour but weren't in a hurry so it didn't really matter. We were able to sit on the multi-level rooftop patio and really enjoyed the view of the Austin skyline, good food and good drinks. Our waiter seemed annoyed to be there but maybe he'd had a bad day. It didn't keep us from having fun.

Chuy's Restaurant

This place was recommended to me by the girl at the front desk of the hotel I stayed at. I usually shy away from chains but didn't realize it was part of a chain until after I'd already eaten there and been wowed. There's an all-you-can-eat nacho car (bar) during happy hour M-F. That alone is worth the visit. All you need to order is a drink and the nacho car is yours to visit as many times as your stomach can manage. There are great thin tortilla chips, their wonderful queso, their exceptional refried beans, taco meat with pepper and onion bits, sliced pickled jalapenos, pico de gallo (their original spicy salsa), and ranchero sauce (according to them, the least spicy, but still had a nice kick).Upon learning it was my first visit, my wonderful waiter offered me samples of any of the salsas on the menu. The Hatch green chile came out warm, and genuinely spicy (like it should be!). I tried not to go overboard on the free stuff because I wanted to try something on the menu. Friday's special offering, chicken enchiladas with a creamy spicy avocado salsa (and the standard rice and refried beans), was recommended, and was delicious, reasonably priced, and a large enough portion that I had leftovers enough for breakfast. And seriously, any Tex-Mex or Mexican place that makes refried beans as good as Chuy's is a 10 in my book.Go. You won't be sorry you did.
