We had heard about this place from some friends in La Quinta so we stopped on our way by.It is definitely not fancy. It is at the end of a strip mall. Although there are lots of spots to eat in, I hear folks come here on Saturday or Sunday - buy 1 whole chicken get 1 free - or Wednesday for the buy 1 get 1/2 free and take it home. It was Friday. No crowd. We had take out.Diet chicken (El Pollo Dieta) it isn't! They have big buckets of what looks like melted butter they toss over the chicken while it is grilling. The chicken was pretty good but a little overcooked. It is probably better on weekends when the turnover is high. We didn't need the tortillas and salsa that come with it and will decline them next time so as not to waste food.

Juan Pollo has the most savory and juicy rotisserie style chicken. Their sides of beans, rice with chicken and the potato salad are probably the best you have ever tasted. As far as I know, everything is made from scratch. They have great prices and awesome staff. The owners, Shawn and Benita are always there to greet you.If you come during lunch, you will think you are at the local law enforcement chow hall, it's a favorite. You can't beat the lunch special deal or try the mini-pak for a family of 4, $15.99

When my wife and I were having a windshield replaced at Indio Auto Glass, I asked if there were any good carnitas restaurants around. Boy am I glad I did. This has to be the best carnitas restaurant on the US side of the border. I would know as I order it everywhere I have been in the US. There are three types of carnitas and they make all three. It is melt in your mouth delicious and made daily. The proprietors are from Oaxaca Mexico originally. I had the carnitas burrito, incredible, which was huge. My wife had the carnitas sopa and tacos, also fantastic. This place isn't fancy dining but a good cleanly run restaurant that looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. They offer other dishes that looked great but you won't go wrong with the carnitas. They offer bottled Mexican beer like Corona or Negra Modelo to wash it down. The total damage out the door, food, 2 beers, tax, and tip, less then $15. Incredible. They also sell carnitas by the pound at $8.99 per to take home. If you are out in the Palm Springs desert area, this place it the real deal. If you thought this review was helpful, please let trip advisor know.

La Cazuela Restaurant

Want really good authentic Mexican food? This is the place. Fancy? No way. Expensive? No way. We accompanied some locals who have tried low end and high end Mexican restaurants in the desert, and LaCazuela is their pick for really good authentic Mexican food. We were warned that we might be the only gringos in the restaurant when we stopped in for lunch on a weekday, and the five of us all scored winners with what we ordered. Every dish was a winner, and it ranged from seafood dishes to beef dishes with everything in between. For food alone, it rates 5 stars but I am rating it as 4 stars because it is more of a mom and pop, hole in the wall sort of place.

You would not think that an unassuming restaurant, located in a strip mall, would have such great tasting food.....believe it! Everything ordered was outstanding. You get a basket with home made chips when you order to munch while your food is prepared. There is a salsa bar with at least half dozen varied salsas, one better than the next. They offer homemade horchata and fruit drinks besides the usual drinks. The micheladas are special. But you must go for the tacos....they are fresh, tasty, varied. Served with optional onion & cilantro topping. On Tuesday & Thursday they are priced at $1.25.....can't wait to go back.

On business we asked where an authentic Mexican restaurant might be. They said Pueblo Viejo of course. Well they were so right. From the moment you walk in you just know you could go for lunch and leave after dinner. The cozy layout of the floor was inviting. The staff was engaging and the food and drink was, well almost perfect! Wonderful Mexican restaurant!
