Always Fresh tex-Mex ! Family Atmosphere.. Walk ins Welcome. Patio Service. Reservations Welcome. Free Parking.
As with all TexMex food, how "good" it is depends on your experiences and what you're expecting. For example, LaCasona would be 5 stars in say, New Hampshire, where they seriously don't know what they're doing, lol. But here in south Texas, where you can get reliable Tex Mex just about anywhere, it's dependable fare executed well. I appreciate that the tacos seem to be made with real ground beef, beans are tasty and well flavored, street tacos taste fresh and are the corn tortillas are really good, margaritas are solid and the stuffed jalapeno never disappoint. My experiences with staff have always been positive, and I think they err on the side of being a bit too intrusive, lest you sit too long (but I'm fine with explaining I want to talk and relax). Love LaCasona and I'm glad they're here in LJ.
I ate here with a colleague on Wednesday for lunch. We noticed walking into this fine establishment that it remains open until just after midday, like until 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m., i.e. not open for late evening dinner. My colleague liked the flautas and I ate a dozen shredded pork tamales in record time because they were so delicious. Lemonade is deliciously sweet. I had no idea the green sauce was a specialty that I simply missed out on, but my colleague said that it was the best green sauce he had tasted. The surprise at the end was our combined bill for the meal. Essentially eating lunch at Jovy's is a true bargain. If I ever go back to Clute, I'll need to hit Jovy's up for lunch. You should, too.
My favorite Brazosport area Mexican restaurant. Fast service. Good authentic Mexican options. Agua frescas. Good prices. I love the a la carte options like nopales tacos and poblano gorditas. You'll look around and see that most of your fellow diners are Mexican--a good sign in a Mexican restaurant!
We go here pretty often & I always either order a hippo taco or a carne guisada taco or both. They have homemade tortillas and the hot sauce is freshly made. Sometimes we phone order & they have em' ready when we get there. They are tried & true for me.
We wanted to try a new place in Clute and found mi casa on plantation. Great spicy salsa served warm. Attentive and nice servers all multi tasking and helping each other out with each table. Great food. DH had platter St. Louis, fajitas mixed with bacon wrapped shrimp. I had chicken flautas. All delicious and will recommend and return!
We stayed in the hotel next door to Taqueria Las Tapatias. The desk clerk at the hotel said Taqueria Las Tapatias had good food, so we walked over to the restaurant. This restaurant appears to be family-owned and is family-friendly. We ordered a small bowl of posole to share, hubby ordered the chili relleno with ground beef, and I ordered the combo plate with carne guisada and enchiladas. The food proportions are huge! and the food is authentic Tex Mex and is very, very good! Prices are very reasonable. The wait staff was friendly and helpful.I highly recommend this restaurant!

The restaurant is amazing, and always reminds me of home. When I come back from school out of state this is a place I always love to go back to. The phat boy taco is the best.

We go here for the lunch specials at least once a week, $5.50 for a plate of enchiladas with rice, beans, and cheese puff can't be beat, or try the Texas Burrito plate for $4.50, heck, it's all great and the service is wonderful...
