Find out what Mexican restaurants to try in Brownsville. At the mouth of the Rio Grande delta and the southernmost tip of Texas, Brownsville enjoys the perfect combination of casual southwestern charm and bicultural diversity. Its position just across the international pedestrian bridge from Matamoros makes it a good base for day trips to Mexico, or for just enjoying the Tex-Mex culture of south Texas. Warm Gulf breezes, blooming bougainvilleas, gently waving palms, soft white sands and friendly, diverse locals make this city a semi-tropical paradise.

The portions are very small and prices inflated. 6 tacos in miniature size 13 USD is a rip off .. No sides! The wine (cheap) is free but that does not compensate for the bland taste and the small portions.

If you pass by this place and your hungry you are missing out. Absolutely authentic Mexican restaurant to the point of no menus in English. Our waitress was a blessing. She brought a sample of each meat to try to see what we liked best. I had the special and my wife had the Mexican plate. More food than you can eat with soup to start and flan or cake for dessert. All for under $20 for 2 of us. Stop by when you are in town, you won't be disappointed.

Since the owners are from Veracruz Mexico you canbe sure that you get quite authentic Mexican food. We were 6 people and ordered Tacos, Enchiladas, Milanesa, Steak Tampiqueño and a Salad. Everything was good and well prepared. The restaurant was full of Mexicans. Friendly service. Moderate prices. You can buy fresh baked pastry to take home.

Just so good, the Seafood Soup appetizer is just awesome. All of our meals were excellent as always too, with large portions and great service.

We went here on the strength of trip advisor recommendation and certainly were not disappointed! It is a cozy family-like small restaurant obviously sought out by locals. Fast service with excellent advice as to menu choices. Tasty nacho chips and salsa All dishes we had were wonderful from the fried Cactus to the Mexican meat ( canât remember the name). Fair pricing. Would return and agree with all positive reviews

This place has really good taco's and beans. And if you're eating local, that's what you're looking for. They're small taco's so you will probably want to order six, trust me. They have bisteak (beef), tripas (cow intestine), asado (pork) and a few others options. Good quick, tasty, inexpensive meal.

Our team enjoyed a hearty lunch in this nicely decorated restaurant. Big warrior like statues, skeletons (a la day of the dead theme), paintings and Mexican decor surrounded us as we dined at a large wooden table.Meat dishes dominated the menu and many of us chose fajitas, arachera mi pueblito, etc. my chicken fajitas were plentiful and flavorful but my co-worker found the arachera to be a bit too tough, most likely the cut of meat.I tried the nopales (cactus) for the first time and wasnât sure what to expect. It had a firm texture reminding me of a thicker bell pepper but taste did not match anything Iâve eaten in the past. I ended up slicing it into thin strips and adding them to my fajitas.Overall good setting, service but mixed bag on the food.

I'm so glad to have found Emilia's. Originally we had planned to find a restaurant closer to our hotel but I'm so glad we ventured out. Emilia's has wonderful reviews for each of its locations and I'm sure they are all well deserved. Despite my extremely limited Spanish (the menu was in Spanish which we knew before arriving), we were able to order and enjoy a delicious meal. The daily specials featured an entree, soup and dessert for $6.99. Although we ordered from the menu instead of the specials we still had an abundance of great food for less than $10 per person. Our server was fantastic and exceedingly patient for which I'm grateful. If you're in the area you should definitely do yourself a favor and stop in at Emilia's.

This is probably the best taco restaurant in the Rio Grande Valley. Their flautas, tostadas and beans are also great. Their crunchy tripa tacos are so good they've been voted the best tacos in the Rio Grande Valley several times. They have a medium dining room and a patio. This place is usually crowded since late in the morning until closing. It is not unusual to have a short wait to be seated. If you are in Brownsville, this is a place you should not miss!

We were staying on SPI and weren't happy with our restaurant experiences there, so we came here based on TripAdvisor reviews--- glad we did. Nice little TexMex place with some comfort food. Everyone was very friendly and all of the food was excellent, with large portions as well. We would definitely go back if back in the area, and if you're going to SPI, this place is worth the 30 minute drive.
