Set amid the coastal Chugach Mountains, Anchorage defies popular visions of polar ice caps and frozen tundra. It’s also warmer than you think (averaging 65 degrees in summer), making conditions ideal for sight-seeing or taking on uniquely Alaskan opportunities like arctic biking or touring the fjords of Prince William Sound. In the winter, you can ski, dogsled or do both simultaneously by "skijoring," which is cross-country skiing while being towed by a dog. Hey, it's no crazier a winter sport than the biathlon.

Building a bridge between traditional Mexican cuisine and the personality of beautiful Anchorage, Tequila 61 embodies what it means to embrace the best of both worlds. Blending time-honored recipes with a modern twist, we fuse the perfect blend of spices
Now my wife and I really like interesting and flavorful food, but todayâs lunch was beyond good. Mexican-Latin fusion sounded like fun and this place was right on our track to the fabulous Anchorage Museum. The modern exterior might suggest a formulaic or chain influence. No No No. Itâs unique. Since it was mid day, we decided not to get into the very impressive cocktail menu of which they are clearly proud. Rather, we selected items to share: tortilla soup, shrimp ceviche, and carne asada corn tacos. Each was exceptional, as good as any prior examples in our long experience. I have been a bit negligent in my review writing of late, probably because no recent dining experience has been particularly great. This restaurant was shockingly good. You should try it. Iâm serious.

This place has really good and fairly authentic Mexican food, including delicious crispy tacos. The prices are low to moderate and the portions large, as fitting in this big State. They claim to be the first Mexican restaurant in Anchorage. The service was prompt and courteous.

We ordered takeout and over food was just wet from juice. We ordered soft tacos all three tacos were soggy wet on the bottom. The taco salad was wet and Soggy on the bottom. If you like nasty horrible tacos than this is a place for you. Very unhappy and very unsatisfied.
