The beef chimichanga is worth the drive. The service was great and price is no more/less than any other Mexican Restaurant.

I have been coming to Manana;s mexican food since they opened about 20 years ago. They are hands down my fav in Alpine and we have many small mexican options here in town. Everything is fresh and authentic. They have a great fresh salsa bar with picked carrots and they also offer beer and wine for dining in their large room.I adore their Carne Asada Burritos and Tacos. Their machaka is awesome as well as the Mar y Terra Burrito. Also LOVE their quesadillas and plate options. For breakfast, do not miss their breakfast burritos, I love the egg, bean, cheese and chorizo option with their green salsa. YUM!

My wife and I were looking for a late dinner on New Years eve, we hadn't been here in a long time so this was our choice. We were able to park right out front and were seated immediately. The dining area was very clean and the tables were cleaned as soon as diners left them. Ready for another group. Chips and salsa were delivered by the first employee that walked by. Our drink orders taken and delivered in very good time. The menu choices are very good, from small appetizer type meals up to the larger more filling plates. I chose the Chicken Chimichanga and my wife went for the Carne Asada Torta. She said it was grilled to perfection. My order came with rice and beans, all ingredients were fresh and tasty. We were both very happy with our dinners and plan not to wait so long for our next visit!

Taco Shop offers an excellent menu with lots of options. The burritos are huge and they offer regular burritos as well as breakfast burritos. The breakfast burritos include eggs, cheese, potatoes, meat and salsa. One burrito makes a meal that will keep you going for a few hours. There are a lot of other items on the menu, so it appears you could eat there many times in a week and try different items every time!

I love this place. Their seafood menu, in particular, is outstanding. They have my two favorites, Shrimp Diabalo and 7 Seas Soup. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and prompt. The only thing missing is hot carrots. There are about 6 Mexican restaurants/taco shops in Alpine and this not only is better than all of them, it is probably the best Mexican food I have had in San Diego County.
It's kinda hard to rate mex food in San Diego county. We have a huge number to pick from and a lot of them are fine.Tapatios is one of these. It's a small place right on the main drag in alpine. It open early and stays open till 9pm. I've had the carne asada nachos which were definitely above average and several of the "plate" meals that were tasty. I especially like their breakfast burrito because they use crispy hash browns with the bacon. The staff is friendly and there's a few picnic type tables on a patio deck in front. I would recommend getting your food, then walking about 100 yards uphill and getting a nice cold Alpine beer company beer and then enjoying both on their patio! And yes they will allow to bring the food inside.
