I view Casa Latina like a brick-and-mortar version of a food truck. It's not cheap, but the food quality and variety is excellent. At the same time, don't go in expecting a nice, table-service restaurant or fine dining experience. You order at the counter, and the menu is in three separate pieces pinned to a post and on the counter itself, so it might take a couple of minutes to orient yourself and decide what you want to eat while ensuring you're not missing something. The tables and chairs are... eclectic. Nothing matches, not even the drink glasses. And there are Frida Kahlo paintings everywhere on the walls. But as long as you're here for the food, you'll be satisfied. 1101 yelp reviews for 4.5 stars are definitely right on that count. Loved the pupusas and empanadas. Flautas were good but not great. I didn't actually like the Cuban sandwich, but that's a personal choice. I've been spoiled by Porto's. But we'd definitely come back here again.
I heard about this place at a wonderful local bar, The Mallard Club,: the bartender was getting some tacos that someone brought for her from the truck. The next night as I was eating some tacos from the truck and a young woman told me, " That's the best taco truck in the Bay Area." I was having a lamb taco, a tripe taco and a tongue taco ...all delicious. The women who work the truck beside The Hotsy/Totsy Club are very helpful and give attentive service.

Like the name says, Christopher's is nothing fancy and the food is not really authentic Mexican cuisine. No refried beans or rice that's been sitting around for days. Everything is freshly made and oh, so good! You order at the counter and they bring it to the table. Again, "nothing fancy" about this place. The portions are enormous! Christopher's also has a salsa bar with a variety of freshly made salsa. Take as much as you like.I just wish Christopher's would serve more fish. Occasionally, salmon tacos are on the menu. Unfortunately, it's not every day. The combination fajitas are one way you can sample a lot of food. Great for sharing!

Very good food. Really pleasant people work there. A lot of variety. We decided to have our lunch outside and the new windblock on the one side helps and the overhead heaters were definitely needed. The non-fried food was great - I wish they had a couple more options that are not cooked in the fryolator.

We have been to several typical Spanish tapas places, but what distinguishes Fonda is the fact that it is Mexican tapas. Every dish we ordered was very flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The portions were quite generous -- on average, two tapas were more than enough for each person. As with most tapas restaurants, dishes come out when they are ready, so it is the perfect type of food for sharing as the plates are delivered. The price per dish is not inexpensive, but the quality was high. Trying many dishes is part of the fun. The atmosphere was lively and service was attentive.

First you need to know how wildly popular Comal is. If you want to be seated get here early or late. Otherwise you will be waiting for a table for 90 minutes. We started off with margaritas which were good. They were smooth and not sweet. For dinner we had guacamole, chips and salsa trio, duck enchiladas, ceviche, jicama and cucumber, braised brussel sprouts with squash. For dessert we had the flan and the chocolate budin. The enchilada was room temp which we did not send back to have warmed. Actually it was our favorite dish flavor wise. The chocolate budin was good too.
