Walking into Buon Gusto makes you feel like you have made the right choice. Warm, muted tones, the selections of wine and liquors proudly displayed. Crisp white tablecloths contrasting with large black and white photos of various locations across Italy. The setting holds out much promise. A promise well fulfilled. We decided to split three course; the rucola salad, the Tagliatelle Buon Gusto with sausage, porcini in tomato sauce, and the veal scallopini in white wine and porcini (it is porcini season after all!) with a side of spinaci, accompanied by a Barbera di Asti. Our host apologized that he no longer had the listed Barbera di Asti but then produced an alternative Barbera for the same price that he promised we would enjoy. He was correct. The wine was deep and rich with more mouth-feel than a typical Barbera and enough tannins and acid to hold out much promise for it pairing with our meal. The salad was serviceable and a bit over dressed but the large amount of flaked parmesan cheese hinted at the generous tone of the rest of the meal. The home-made tagliatelli was a revelation. Perfectly cooked and sauced with a rich almost dark amber sauce with tasty bites of Italian sausage and juicy porcini. When we asked for a little heat we were brought a small cruet of fresh olio santo, finely chopped hot red peppers in a fine olive oil. This bit of kick made a wonderful dish of tagliatelli approach gastronomic perfection. The scallopini did not disappoint, even after the high note of the pasta course. Thick but tender medallions of flavorful veal in an excellent light white wine, lemon and porcini sauce, which contrasted beautifully with the deep vegetal some what bitter green of the spinaci. Fortunately we were served a basket of fresh baked hard rolls that aided us in ensuring that none of the sauce from either our pasta or scallopini returned to the kitchen. We ended the dinner with two excellent grappi (grappas?) from our host's extensive selection. Buon Gusto has a fairly extensive menu. If we are ever in Winterthur again we will certainly be back to explore it further.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times already - once for drinks and twice for supper. Each and every time I was horribly disappointed by the staff. They were never around when needed. It felt like they didn't really care, because they'd have enough people coming in anyway because it's so close to the station. The two times I was there to eat, my group wanted to order another bottle of wine, but because the waiters didn't seem bothered to figure out how we were doing (or to notice that our glasses were empty), they ended up not selling us wine (which I suppose would've given them a nice profit) and we ended up leaving grumpy. The time I was there for drinks, we were sitting outside, and I managed to only have one drink in an hour and a half because no waiter/waitress turned up.I can't say that it's just that the staff doesn't care, or that there are just not enough of them, but it really doesn't make for a good dining experience. Especially at those prices.Dear Robyn W,Thank you for taking the time to bring up these issues via your review. We appreciate our guests' feedback very much, as it helps us improve and constantly strive for excellence. We try to maintain the highest standards of service, but it's clear according to your statement that we didnât meet your expectations. We apologize that you did not receive the proper attention. Excellent italian food, very friendly staff well managed by Mr. Steiger, a balanced menu card and all this for absolutely fair prices. Children are welcome which gives you as a parent peace of mind during dinner. It is also a great place for business lunch.

Everything was great. The restaurant has around 7 tables therefore the service is exclusive. Once we had ordered, we received a small starter as courtesy. Our main dishes were so delicious and the portion were quiet considerable. The wine selection was also great, ask for the Chilean wines ;)At the end, also as courtesy, we received a small desert to share and our waitress was so nice with us all the time.Without any doubt a must go place.

Was here a couple of times and like the "green-environment" in the restaurant. Food and drinks are fine as well. The staff-members especially the new Manager (& Chef) are attentive and communicative. We also tried out the Cigar-Lounge (attached to it) and were also here happy.

We invited a friend for dinner and she booked this cozy little restaurant for the 3 of us. Warm welcome, nice and friendly staff/owners and speedy service even though the place was packed. We all ordered Cordon Bleu, which was exceptionally good. Only little down-side: As the restaurant was completely packed, the noise level was extremely high and it was quite difficult to have an intimate conversation at our table, as you had to speak very loudly to be heard.Dear Matteo,Thank you so much for your feedback. This is our great pleasure to read you enjoyed your evening with us! The garden is indeed ideal for a chilled moment, we canât wait for the return of fine days! Hope you will like it, too :) Best regardsFrank StorkNachbarsgarten

The place might seems weird, but it is indeed inside the push private clinic at the top of Winterthur. Once the Clinic lobby the restaurant team welcome you to bring to the restaurant itself with a view on Winterthur and you forgot the surrounding. The table setup is good and very pro, there is enough space between tables to have privacy. The service is first class without being to extravagant. The staff (both German and English speaking) is courteous and very professional. The Wine selection is good anywhere from CHF40 to Dom Perignon like Champagne. The menu is on the healthy side with enough variety without being exhaustive. The dressing of the plate are very neat which only improve the culinary experience. There again, it is worth the trip. The amuse bouche was nice and colorful. The entrée goes from a broth to a foie grass on a pear bed. The main course include Swiss/Zurich main dishes and also some nice fish. Portion are correct to have room for the desert. A little faux-pas was the apple pie which wasnât at the level of the rest of the lunch.Perfect for Business (or if you stay at the clinic itself ;)Dear Jean-Marc C,thank you for the nice rating and the comments about the whole restaurant. We need this information to make our service better. Also thanks for the apple pie information. We will change the recept and make an other one next time. We are looking forward to welcome you back.Kind regardsJan Wildenhain, Leiter Hotellerie & Facility Management
