The Cafe Homestead was awesome! Great food, great service and the grounds around it were an added bonus to our girls trip. Both of their soups (pablano cream and jalapeno sweet potato) were outstanding! We all got their London fog latte and it did not disappoint. It was cold and wet the day we visited so the warm soup and latte's were like a gift. Since this was a girls trip, we also had dessert. I had the pumpkin cheesecake and my girls each had the warm apple cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream. All were outstanding! This place was a fantastic place.

After visiting the Twin Silos and Magnolia Market, friends and I decided to do a late lunch here. Never again. Service was cold and unfriendly. The young woman who took our orders was disinterested, no courtesy, no welcome, no smile. Clearly she did not want to be there and misery loves company and she was determined to spread it around. I ordered what was to be a large Greek salad. Oh my! it was the size of a small dinner side salad, but at a heck of a price. The overwhelming flavor was balsamic. Another in our party ordered the same, and did not eat hers. I was starving so I did eat it. I wanted a cold beer, they have bottles, and a display showing what they are supposed to have. But every one I asked for, they were out of. Saturday at 2 PM, and you are out of stock of most of your beer? Come on! The gyros looked good, no complaints from those who ordered those. But, because service was so overwhelmingly bad, I suggest you stay away. There are many other places to eat, why bother with this place?

Family owned, incredibly friendly and the food?OH. MY.We chatted with the owner at the register that we had been driving a long time from a very far distance and had just arrived here in Waco for the first time. She took our orders, we paid and then found ourselves a table. A few minutes later, she brought out a complimentary basket of homemade pita chips (NO preservatives!) and hummus. A few minutes later, she brought out fresh and warm pita bread. I think it was because my husband and I were both walking around admiring all of the beautiful and historic photos of Lebanon on the walls, discussing the architecture, etc. We all shared stories of traveling to places like Turkey and France, the foods, culture and photos of grand kids. What an experience. The food was so incredibly authentic and delicious, my husband and I both licked our plates clean. Yes, literally. It was that amazing.Thank-you for your response. Your words made our day! We like to make our customers feel at home. Thank-you again for your kind words.

"Waco's home for good food, wine and conversation." Serving unique dishes to satisfy every palate. From Fresh Seafood to Beef Tenderloin, there truly is something for everyone. Full bar with Specialty Cocktails to great wine selections. Hours of Operation
We got there late and were informed we needed to order quickly. We did so but the server was also trying to up sell us on appetizers. The flaming cheese was kind of interesting but that was as good as it got. The halibut I ordered was not tasty. It was a thick, flaky piece of fish but it tasted like metal. The sea bass did appear to be better. The service does not deliver for the price point of the restaurant. Definitely a poor value for the upscale dining price charged. We are sorry that your dining experience was not good. We do close at 10pm and the kitchen closes at 9:30pm. We apologize that you felt rushed and both of your entrees were less than satisfying. We do pride ourselves in bringing in fresh seafood that is flown into Dallas and then brought to 1424 on ice. We do want you to enjoy your choices and wish that it was brought to our attention sooner so we could have fixed the problem on that day.
