La Meida is situated between the Ibis hotel and the town centre...we chose it because it was getting late on a Sunday evening and not much was still open for dinner...when we sat down we were the only customers, which made us a little wary. However, the owner was very welcoming and gave us good advice on the North African wines (we got by with broken french as he didnât speak any English) and on the menu.We had various dishes- including excellent lamb tagine and mixed grilled meats with couscous. The Algerian red wine we had was an excellent accompaniment to the spicy food. The food was priced in keeping with all the other restaurants we ate at in France, although beer was very expensive compared to others. the wine was a mid range priced at 24 euros.Worth a visit and if you want a change from traditional french cuisine.

Italian gourmet restaurant in the center of Valenciennes. Lorena and Gilberto decline in the plate, their love of the products and the Italian kitchen. Spaghetti alle vongole, pizza Mozzarella di bufala, discover true savors of Italy. VIA!
The atmosphere is nice, and one of waiters was friendly. But the supposed to be sommelier was absolutely awful, shewing on his gum, taking the wine glasses to fill them... The appetizer, aubergine parmigiana was still cold, and the main was beef with pasta pesto. The beef was dry and completely cooked (I asked a point), and the pasta was overcooked as well.. The calzone pizza was delicious, way too much, but nice. It was also very cold in the restaurant. So, overall, we payed way too much for the quality of food and the service.

This restaurant can be described only in two words words: "unbelievable good".I heard a lot about this restaurant in my hometown Rotterdam, the netherlands. went with the car for a trip of 2 hours to enjoy a good dinner in Valenciennes. The waitress welcomed us and took our jackets and showed us our place to sit.We got the menu and decided to eat moussaka and some other traditional dishes. We waited only 25 minutes and everything was spread on our table. The owner of the restaurant asked after our dinner if we wanted a dessert from the house and he made it himself. Very kind of him.I will come back for sure !

I was taken to Le Marrakech by a friend while staying in Valenciennes for three days and we enjoyed a lovely meal. The owners are charming and very helpful, everything was prepared and presented very well and the portions were very generous. My friend who is vegetarian thought her Vegetable Tajine was excellent and she couldn't finish it all. My Lamb and Margez Cous cous was extremely tasty and again plentiful. Her young daughter enjoyed a lovely Chicken Cous cous on the child's menu but again couldn't come close to finishing it as there was enough for most adults! As my friend doesn't drink I just ordered a glass of house red wine which is the only fault I could fine with this restaurant, it was a bit on the rough side to say the least. All in all though a very good meal, reasonably priced, our bill came to 50⬠and I would certainly go again
