We dined at Cafe Parti on our first night in Ghent on the recommendation of our hotel. The cafe was busy and the al fresco garden dining area was fully booked. The food was very good, particularly the salmon fillet. The staff were friendly and efficient in their service. The meals were moderately priced and provided good value for money. If you fancy dining in the garden, best to book in advance.Thanks for your vote.

Found this place using TA, looked really good. We arrived and they were full (always a good sign) so were told to come back in 15 mins.We were shown to our table and that's where we sat for 30 mins, no menu, no water, no drinks. Our order was eventually taken and we had to wait another 20 mins for just the drinks and bread to turn up. We then waited another 30 mins for food to come out (only arrived after I asked where it was) At no point were we checked on, asked for more drinks ect. We finished our.... food, It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. For the price I expected better in truth. The service really showed its colors when we were asked why we did not finish the wine (there was ligitamiltly a fly in it) she shruged her shoulders and just took it away! no replacement. The service here was terrible, I was made to feel like we had inconvenienced her simply by being there. In short, Id recommend against this place, perhaps we got it on a bad day but as it was to celebrate an anniversary it put a cloud over the evening. If I had the service here I would have just walked out.

We really liked this place and the owner. Nice atmosphere.Limited wine choice, but what we were offered was good, and good value.We had starters and a pasta main. We were just a little underwhelmed by the pasta sauce, and the owner was disappointed to see half-eaten plates.We would definitely try this again if ever in Ghent.

We chose this restaurant purely because it looked really nice, with a decent menu, as we walked by! It turned out to be a good choice - the ambiance, food & service were all excellent & at a decent price. We sat in the open courtyard at the back, so could enjoy the summer's evening whilst we ate. It's slightly off the tourist route, but well worth looking for.

Located in the heart of Ghent, Otium is the place to be for fine Italian dining while immersed in a great atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by the lovely staff who will go above and beyond to deliver you the best culinary experience when exploring the wide variety of Italian food, downtown Ghent. Next to the fixed menu staples such as the 'amatriciana estiva' or 'costelle di agnello', Otium serves new suggestions every day, combining the freshest ingredients to deliver an explosion of flavors on your plate. The restaurant offers a range of good wines to pair with each dish, and you don't need to hesitate to ask any recommendations in case you're in doubt: they're always on point. Otium is my go-to Italian restaurant for any occasion, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a night of great conversations and accompanying food.

We decided to try out PULPO on its only second day of trading (27 October). Having first looked at the website we were very much looking forward to having Paella but were a bit disappointed to find it wasn't on the menu when we got there. Perhaps we were hoping for too much and not allowing the young but dynamic team get up to speed. They promised us that they would be serving paella starting the following week.We did not have starters ut our mains were delicious. A very good Spanish Gallego steak and a seabass in a wonderful tomato sauce.For dessert, one of us had a butterscotch "budino" which turned out to be a type of pudding - again very tasty. It would have been nce to have a small amuse bouche while waiting - perhaps some boquerones (marinated spanish anchovies) but overall we enjoyed our meal and will go back.The restauranbt can seat about 24 people at a time and the tables are quite close together but the staff were super friendly. Their signage outside is not very visible at night - the colours are not bold enough and you may think you are parking up at a hairdressers who shares the building - but fear not PULPO is inside.
