This is a fun break from the normal restaurant fare found in most of Lower Alabama and the Gulf Coast. And the Turkish Coffee is wonderful. Jerusalem is very unassuming tucked into a strip shopping center down Airport Road. But the Jerusalem Cafe is worth the search. Their hummus is excellent, pita as well. Their service is likewise top quality. And the main courses are very good. Come with hungry. The only thing that might be a negative for some is that they do not serve beer, wine or cocktails. But i believe they don't care if you bring your own.

I love supporting small business, especially family businesses. When I visited this restaurant on a quiet Wednesday evening I was served by a very polite young man in his teens while his father prepared my order and his younger brother stirring about. A family business indeed! The gyros on a pita was very tasty and quite hearty. It came with fries that were good but unspectacular. Along with a drink, that came to just under $10. Perhaps a touch steep but not a showstopper.I also tried the samosa which were filled with a delicious ground beef preparation. A little different for me since I've usually only had potato or vegetable samosas.Definitely worth a visit.

I've been to this place twice. Each time I ordered lamb (1st time had lamb shank; yesterday had lamb chops), which was quite good. However, the lamb chops were much better than the shank. In addition, the price for the 2 lamb entrees has increased by $2 in about a year; too much in my opinion. Specifically, $20 for lunch is too much. Their soups (lentil and carrot) are quite good. Service is excellent!
