Reviews on Mediterranean food in Salou, Province of Tarragona, Spain. Salou, on the Costa Dorada, nestles between quaint Cambrils and calm La Pineda. Just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, the compact resort town is a family favorite, due in no small part to the existence of Port Aventura and Aquopolis theme parks. Gentle beaches and a slew of exciting fiestas in August add to Salou's appeal for families.

Great location just off the main sea front, very busy but great organizational skill by the staff who made sure that everyone got seated and made to feel special. Great atmosphere , not hurried to finish and move on from the table....will definitely go back..especially for the added bonus of a gratuitous lemoncello

We have often been disappointed with a restaurant despite a high ranking, however this was not the case here. The food and service was excellent, as was the atmosphere. And for a location like Salou we were very happy to have discovered a restaurant that is genuinely frequented by locals. We were served a lovely selection of white & black sausages and fuet (salami) as our unordered appetiser. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to order and the accompanying grilled vegetables were delicious, and whilst the steaks were excellent they were topped by the flavour of the Secreto de Iberico but even this dish was bettered by the mouthwatering delicious Pork Cheeks, ( yes, the cheeks from a pigâs face), the meat was so tender it all but melted in the mouth. And as if the quality of the food wasnât enough the prices were very good too. Thankfully the restaurant was fairly busy and therefore should hopefully survive the pressures of accommodating to the holidaying masses.

There is nothing to add to the great reviews on here. Everything was exceptional. We opted for the set menu. The waitress was more than happy and very efficient in explaining the dishes. The 'included' wine was nice,I opted for the rose and the biggest wine glass I have ever seen. The food was stunning and so tasty. The chef really knows his stuff. And the pudding. ..... mmmmmm. White chocolate something. Well done to the chef and a special thanks to the two attentive waitresses. Just a point to bear in mind a previous comment said to ask for a table outside when booking- note that it will be with the smokers which I would have not enjoyed as they don't leave the table to light up . Very rude.Oh and just to reiterate make sure you book well in advance. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

The review covers 2 visits - and would have covered a 3rd, but we found it too late in our holiday! The location of the restaurant is in a quiet area away from all the tourist spots - it was near to our hotel (Regina Gran). Typically filled with locals - always a good sign - there is a very relaxed atmosphere. On our first visit the owner apologised that his menu was in Spanish - but then we are in Spain (there was probably a Catalan version as well). No problem, he translated everything on the menu we didn't already understand explaining any dishes that were maybe not known to us. With orders of burgers and the tomato and mozzarella salad (and a burger for my son) - we were not disappointed. The burger is huge but good quality and really enjoyable. The salad was simple, but fresh and good quality. I took the cheesecake for dessert and it was really light and refreshing. We were sold on a second visit! When we went back, it was exactly the same - relaxed (although the owner is running around crazy keeping every customer happy and relaxed). The tomato and mozzarella salad was again selected. This time we went with tapas. Nachos, prawns, calamari and bravas. All simple but once again fresh and extremely tasty. Of course we all took dessert - and wished we had found the restaurant earlier in the holiday. It's a must visit with food served from 8pm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and definitely the food highlight of our holiday.

Restaurant DORADO since 1960 the most recommended of the gold coast for its wide variety of paellas, rice , fresh fish and seafood..The best collection of wines .
We are not that keen on restaurants with photographs as the menu generally, but the choices are quite poor in this yobbish destination. The service was efficient if brusque. We very much enjoyed our meal, but the wine reccomendation (Dordo House wine) was poor. Worth a try.

The menu had mostly Italian style food and you could create your own pasta dishes by choosing a type of pasta and whatever sauce to have with it. I had gnochi with a tomato, bacon and onion sauce. It was very good. My starter was a platter with very thinly sliced beef, sprinkled with rocket and chees and drizzled with a nice dressing; served with a home-made focacio bread which was delicious. The house red was excellent
