Just off the main street of Arona, lies this cosy and delicious Enoteca. The food is superb, delicious and served quickly by amazing stuff that own the place. We had an appetiser of bresaola and ricotta cheese and zucchini mousse which was very good and then we ate meat - pork and beef and it was amazing. The food combinations are fantastic and they have on offer all the best Belgium beers. The interior of the Enoteca is very nice decorated with vines and wine bottles, a really nice decoration.

Vegan restaurant. Organic dishes and homemade vegan pastry.
We found this wonderful restaurant when doing some research before travelling to Lake Maggiore as we are vegan (and I have a whole host of food intolerances) and so it can be next to impossible to eat out in Italy, for us! However there is vegan and then there is VEGAN, in other words the standard of food can be very variable and often quite poor when you opt to go plant-based (and we have encountered the full range on our travels!) so we weren't very sure what to expect. Many vegan restaurants give a bad name to this kind of eating, which is so frustrating when you enjoy creative and healthy cooking yourself...and it is often preferable, if hard work, to self-cater when travelling. We were so pleasantly surprised by the creative and diverse food on offer here (and not at all reliant on meat-sustitutes - we encountered tempeh and buy no soy and the rest was truely plant based) that we ended up going to this resturant three times in under a week, twice for dinner and once for buffet lunch. All three meals were varied and so enjoyable. On each occassion, they took careful note of my gluten free status (advised in advance) and carefully explained my options in excellent English. On the sunday, which is buffet night, they had kindly prepared a gluten free buffet in a seperate place to the rest of the food so there was no mistaking what I could eat...and there was plenty for me as most of the dishes were gluten free. Our final lunch, just before we set off to the airport, was a substantial and delicious way to end our trip before travelling back to England and the cheerful and relaxed vibe in this special venue helped to make our holiday into something truly memorable. Would love to see eateries like this spring up all around Europe as it would make our travels so much easier and more pleasant. By the way, the clientele was made up entirely of Italian "locals" (that we saw) and this restaurant was consistently popular, with diners seated inside and out in their little garden; usually a good sign that it is a true winner attracting repeat business and not a gimmicky tourist venue.

Our host at the b&b recommended this place as non touristy, and we weren't disappointed. Fabulous seafood and lake fish, expertly cooked. Extensive wine list which was really good value, and a wonderful staff.

Was here in early June with a group of 10 business associates for our global planning meeting. Location was close to the lake with beautiful views. The accommodations were very good. Meeting room was super for our group. Food and service from staff was really super. Would return again.

The village of Ranco is much quieter than places such as Arona and Stresa on the other side of the lake, primarily because there's no lakeside road; you have to make a conscious decision to go there. Since it was our day of departure and we had plenty of time to kill we drove to Angera, wandered round the Rocca (fantastic!) and, with the aid of the Michelin site, came across Il Sole di Ranco just in time for lunch.Turned out to be a wise decision. A glass of Prosecco and we opted for the 3-course menu. The food is very good here - a starter of Risotto Milanese with fresh-water perch fillets, 'maialino da latte affumicato' (smoked suckling pig) and a superb dessert based on peaches and toffee. At 50 euros a head it's not a cheap place to eat, but you know that before you order. A bottle of Scalabrone turned out to be a great lunchtime accompaniment (by the way, their wine list is absurdly long and contains some outrageous stuff which is frankly way out of our price bracket, but maybe the people whose Aston Martin and Ferrari were stood in the hotel car park buy it...).Since we got home I've been reading the reviews on this site and was very surprised by the criticism of the service. The staff couldn't have been nicer to us; patient, helpful, friendly and tolerant of my admittedly basic Italian. It might be a different matter when the entire terrace is full for dinner, but there were just 5 tables laid for lunch so the whole atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed.I'd certainly go back. I'm intrigued how their 100-euro tasting menu would be and would love to try it, but driving to Malpensa Airport after that would be out of the question...

This restaurant is very popular and booking essential. Time should be left to find a car-parking space as well! The view is towards the east over Lake Maggiore. Service was attentive and the locally made breads were excellent. The octopus leg was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The raviolis were good as a secundi. The main tempura vegetable and fish dish was huge and the tempura slightly on the thick side. The other main course was slightly under-seasoned for my taste.A pleasant evening as acouple enjoying nice food on the lakeside

We had a great Bday celebration dinner with 5 adults and 1 kid. Nice and cozy atmosphere, amazing food and good quality wines. Absolutely 5*risotto with salsiccio, porchini and fresh black truffel on top Definately the best restaurant in this corner of Italy. 5* also because of the professional and friendly service in english.

The setting of this restaurant is fantastic, with big picture windows overlooking Lake Maggiore. We were here on a quiet night, serenaded by an eclectic mix of Italian love songs and Queen. The food was beautifully prepared, interesting and flavoursome. We took the sword fish (fabulous) and asparagus ravioli (very good), followed by the fillets of perch with aubergine and tomatoes set off by balsamic vinegar (beautiful - just a little oily - but that doesn't spoilt it). OK, its not cheap (98 euros for 2 people, 2 courses, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water and two coffees). But you will enjoy it.

Going for lunch on a perfect spring day, the patio had an amazing view over the lake. Service was attentive and efficient and friendly, without being intrusive. The prices are as stratospheric as the views, but the food is absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, with attention to detail in all manners.Very old school (chauvinistic), with the male (me) presented with a menu that has prices, and the female (wife) no prices, despite the fact that my wife was the one paying for dinner today!

I have been hearing about this place for a few months now so we have decided to test it out. We had family sunday lunch with small birthday celebration. The menu was excellent offering good variety of dishes. Not too many dishes as I get suspicious whether products are fresh. It has offered a diverse choice suitable to all tastes and the products were certainly fresh and carefully selected. The wine choice was also very good (pity I was designated driver but my husband has indulged). The highlight was maialino dish; very tender and juicy. Compliments to the chef.We had three/four course meal at very reasonable price. Superior quality, lovely interior and super nice service. It was our first visit but certainly not the last. We loved it :-)Thank you! Sorry for my bad english but i desire to answer you. I wait you and your family to taste our specialities that change every month and the special menu for the event like next woman's day or Easter or to taste our new Young proposal IL GIROPASTA
