We ate here during our recent trip to Ourense. There are many restaurants around and so we chose this one, partly because of TA reviews and partly because it was just around the corner from our hotel. We chose the menu del dia (either 10⬠or 11â¬) and had a choice of several dishes for the various courses. The menu came with bread and a glass of wine, beer or water. Not as generous as some, but the quality of food makes up for that.If you're eating, then you have to go through to the back of the restaurant as the front seems reserved for drinking or tapas only. The service is excellent and the waiters look incredibly smart in their white shirts, bow ties and black waistcoats. We had Cuban rice (basically a spicy rice with a fried egg on top) and asparagus and ham (fine but it was cheap sliced ham from a packet). The mains were veal and skate. You will be asked how you want your veal cooked and you might want to remember that medium in Spanish is much the same as rare in the UK......Our desserts were two delicious flans. The meal was excellent and tremendously good value. The restaurant became very busy, so we were glad that we turned up as early as we did, around 1ish. You might want to bear this in mind if you decide to go there. It is worth going to for the quality and value of the food available.

Wanting to have something different to eat I looked at the options in Ourense and was pleasantly surprised to find Shangri-La. Situated just of Ruá Progreso and with car parking nearby in Plaza de Abasdos, it´s well located, although the actual road it´s situated on is a little decrepit don´t worry because the interior is wonderful and more importantly, so is the food. I went with 3 friends and we all shared the Ensalada Tricolor and then took individual main courses. I tried the lasagna with pesto. Very tasty and filling. Certainly sufficient for sharing. My friends chose Burritas, Tofu with vegetables, and Moussaka. I tried each of them and they were all delicious, in particularly the Moussaka. The homemade desserts looked tasty but unfortunately none of us had room to even try.The staff were very friendly and helpful and the decor and ambience inviting. I´m pleased to have discovered this restaurant and look forward revisiting in the future.

This has to be the largest restaurant in the centre/Old Town of Ourense very close to the Cathedral. There are different dinning areas ranging from more informal tapas style bar to formal restaurant and events. We sat in more formal area which was nice and quiet and we noted the whole place is tastefully decorated. We were attended by the chef himself Miguel as well as some waiters all were helpful and profesional. The food was superb as they use the very best products. We started with some appetisers the home made pies were excellent one was ham and turnip tops the other baby scallops. We also tried some tempura of sardines and potatoes and a variety of nice croquettes not yo mention the wonderful baby squid. The main course was a wild, roast sea bass with accompanying salad/roast vegetables. It was nice and light real fresh and delicious. The desert was also creative with mirabels, a type of plum from O Rosal with Galician chestnuts in a light soufle. This was washed down with a smooth, local Godello white wine. A real great dinning experience.

I went to this restaurant in Easter with my boyfriend and apart from an outstanding interior design the food is very good quality (better than the average good quality Galician food), amazing presentation and great taste!Just amazing. Only downturn is that it is a bit pricey... but you dont have to go every day! :)

This place changed management some years ago, after being discredited by previous owners, who brought down the reputation in two rounds. It is a great pleasure to find a place one can recommend in the neighboring area, specially when the restaurant is located in a beautiful Pazo (ancient construction of a typical Galician manor house), recently refurbished in a very classical and harmonious style, and where the food and service are excellent. We shared 3 starters, all equally amazing, a gorgeous lubina (sea bass) and torrijas for dessert, paired with two bottles of a great white Ribeiro (Ramón do Casar, treixadura, 2015). I can highly recommend this place and I will go back for sure.

we enjoyed each everything we ordered. All dishes tasted awesome. The quality of the food is very good. The place is popular, hence not easy to get a table for a bigger group. The service is ok. Anyway, highly recommended.

This restaurant is set inside a wine shop/delicatessen so you know you're getting the best of both worlds. The menu comprises 15 or so dishes on a blackboard with dishes that show off the best this region of Spain has to offer. The apple crumble dessert was a nice touch and a bit of a tribute to the young owner's travels in the U.K. An excellent dinner in this beautiful part of Spain.

small restaurant in upper old town part with lovely interior.very attending waiter, helpful specially for wine recommendation. classic menu with a lot of meat dishes. we had fresh arrived boletus mushrooms - grilled almost burned and extremely bitter in taste as never had it before like that. duck liver roasted nice in taste. main course solomillo & presa both very tender and tasteful, the garnish puree of cauliflower, sliced carrots and homemade fries shows a very poor presentation. in a restaurant t of this level I aspect a local typical or a classic potato garnish (no need to complicated) not only some fries as everywhere. also the vegetables let the dish look very poor.huge selection of wines, also sweet wines by glass (a bit high priced for the measure) service very attending but serve the few tables almost alone so the diner gets very very slow - another guy to help would be really needed!for the price level on my opinion several thing went wrong, a pity as the meat is best quality and very good cocked. just around many things to keep more attention.

The best ever spent 26EUR for a 6 meals set. Delicious and perfect combination of how it looks and how it tastes. Going there is a must!

We went twice and loved it both times. It is probably new Spanish cuisine. Fresh ingredients, deliciously prepared. Gorgeous place with beautiful paintings. For sure, one of the best places in town. Enjoy!
