We stumbled across this restaurant by chance when we stayed for a 2 week self-catering holiday in June 2013. By chance, we asked if there was a table free for our party of 8....although it was busy at the time, it wasn't too much trouble to set up a table for us and we thereafter savoured what can only be described as exceptional quality and varied food, all cooked perfectly and to our satisfaction. The wine was decent and plentiful, and the quality of service was second-to-none!Such was the quality of the food and the experience that we went back twice more over the course of our holiday. We are returning to the same accommodation in April 2014 and this will hopefully be our first port of call for eating.tanks you

If you like char-grilled steaks, you'll love it here as they're the house speciality. Massive (actually, *too* massive) antipasti selection. Good house wine. Friendly welcome. Exceptionally nice indoor surroundings. Comfortable. Tables not too close together. Massive carpark. But service can creak a bit when it's busy.

Donât go to Taverna Ducale for its nice interior, go for its genuine athmosphere and local dishes. We enjoyed the mixed appetizers and a veal steak. Really good. Impressive trunks of Bistecca Fiorentina were served at the surrounding tables. Prices are very affordable, the quality good and the alcoholic degree of the home-made digestive rather high!

Advertises itself as specialist in fish, with the majority of the reviews suggesting it's pretty good. And so it was. We were there midweek lunch time and it was pretty quiet. Service was good, in a slightly old-fashioned way. As for the most important aspect, ie, the food, we had a selection of grilled fish for one dish, the other, spada. Both very good, and nicely presented. Interesting selection of breads, house wine, puds et cetera, all for â¬50, service included.Easy to miss, inspite of the board on via Agorai. Worth walking further along via Agorai as part of the historic city walk, and keep turning right at the top by the small church and come back into town along what remains of the old city walls.

We walked to this osteria soon after arriving in Castel Frentano, Italy. Its well signposted from the main road and offers a set price meal including drinks for 25 euros per person. It's a bit strange having no menu whatsoever and having the owner choose for you but we went with it!Antipasti was large and varied with plenty of cheese and meat and deep fried vegetables. The amount was so large we skipped one of the courses but be warned this doesn't change the price. The meat dishes were beef, pork, lamb and ribs all cooked well over charcoal and desserts were fresh fruit. Our advice is go hungry and take whatever is cooking that day!Seems to be run by an older couple and it got really busy as we ate with locals, which is a good sign.A great introduction to Italian osterias.

This is worth visiting. As all good Abruzzesi food, it is seasonal and delicious. This restaurant is one recommended by locals, and it is usually pretty busy. Ravioli, stuffed with pecorino, served with a walnut dressing (autumn), or wild boar cutlets, from a tender young thing......Reasonable prices, friendly, bustling and enjoyable in every respect. Give it a go!

La Grotta is unique as part of it is inside a small cave. This cave and the ret of the restaurant is beautifully finished off and well decorated and lit. One must mention the toilets as being the best toilets I have every had the good fortune to visit. We, a party of 6, dined the the cave section surrounded by dozens of bottles of wine. The menu was not extensive but covered the main Italian food groups. We did ask about specials and were offered one or two dishes of something off menu. I messed up and ordered steak, I should have been more local. The food everyone had must have been extremely good based on the comments around the table. Plus the wines both red and white we delicious. When our waiter nor the owner, both of whom had limited english, could not answer a question the english speaking chef was called to our table. In conclusion for those of us used to paying city prices for 5 star service you will be pleasantly surprised. If you are ever within 100 kilometres of this restaurant please go.

Four of us had the territorio menu. Tastes of the local specialities of Abruzzo. Start to finish it was excellent. Service top notch. Friendly and not stuffy. We chose our own wines and the waiter steered us to another wine, surprisingly it was less in cost than the one we had chosen. Proof that, to them, it matters more that the wine match your food perfectly than making a profit. And to Reviewer Andrei, who disingenuously said only French food rated Michelin stars, he is a snob and has no palate. He wouldnât know quality food if it hit him in the face.

A great find and completely different to other restaurants in the area. The setting's quirky and original - set into the old walls of pretty village San Martino della Marrucina. Decor's comfortable, romantic and highly original. (You'll see what I mean when you get there). Mellow background music just perfect for the setting. The food is outstanding. An original, modern and delicious twist on standard Italian fare. Red wine risotto; rabbit terrine; signature starter of a salt-baked onion with parmesan; pasta with a sauce made from osso bucco; organic pork fillet with a red wine glaze; a deconstructed cheesecake dessert. No menu - but Padrone Angelo will carefully guide you through the choices for each course. And help with the wine ! Can genuinely recommend La Vineria. Each visit is a new pleasure.
