Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Montevideo. Montevideo, a port city and the capital of Uruguay, is a perfect destination for travelers looking for a relaxing stroll past colonial era buildings and along beautiful beaches. The Ciudadela Gateway, the only remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the entire city, now serves as the entrance to Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo's oldest neighborhood. Home to churches, museums, and theaters, at night the area comes alive with nightclubs playing Tango and Candombe music for crowds of dancers.

We came for lunch. The locale is rustic, so sort of âcoolâ. Not too crowded. Not too noisy. We shared two starters, a main and a dessert: broccoli and cheese croquettes, a salad, pork schnitzel with sweet potatoes and an âeclair with orange cream and pear stuffing. It was all quite good! Friendly servers. Recommendable!

I had heard this restaurant was good but when we walked in, somewhat sweaty and underdressed, I was alarmed to see the elaborate place settings--think many, many forks--and thought oh it's one of those restaurants. That said, we were there late in the afternoon and practically had the place to ourselves. The service was formal but not over the top. And the prices were fair. I'd particularly recommend the trio of ceviche and the chocolate dessert. Both were delicious The decor was a little odd. The walls are hung with paintings of young women in sultry posed. It was a little jarring.

A restaurant that serves good Italian food, but which feels a little like you are sitting in what is mostly a delicatessen where people come to buy food to take away rather than an intimate restaurant. The food was tasty, but it's not my favourite Italian in Montevideo.

No question that the kitchen puts outs some really creative, interesting sounding fare, much of it twists on classic local or Spanish dishes. And service is delightful. The problem for us came in that the creativity seems to come without the backup of solid cooking. The old adage of "taste, taste, taste" for any aspiring cook or chef seems to have been lost here, as each dish just simply... lacked, in seasoning and balance. With a group of four, we'd pretty much planned to make our way through most of the menu - but after sampling a quintet of the tapas, we looked at each other, called it quits, and went to a bar for chivito sandwiches. Fairly expensive, too, especially for tapas sized plates.

Yes, the title says it all. I enjoy their outdoor seating. I dined at Terracota twice within one week. Once with friends visiting from the US and the second time alone. Service was ok, nothing spectacular. Food was good both times. I would return simply out of convenience.

South American wine restaurant with great selection in wine list and more that 15 options by the glass. International cuisine with a french touch. Bistrot style. Great for sharing different plates and wine. located in the heart of Punta Carreta's gastrono
I love this restaurant so much and they're food is so good that I'm taking time to write a review, which I almost never do, because I'm shocked that it's not among the first top 5 restaurants on Tripadvisor. The food is consistently excellent, the wine selection is great and the service is excellent, the space is beautiful. The owners are French and own another restaurant by the same name in Santiago, Chile. The space itself is beautiful and you'll be lucky to have the best selection of French traditional dishes outside of France (including their amazing creme brulee). I have eaten at some of the world's best restaurants and they're food is just as good at a very reasonable cost. You must try Baco and I'm sure you won't disagree. Ask to meet the owners and you'll be charmed.Thank you very much for you review!!! we hope w'll serve you again very soon!!!

We don't want you to try just one dish, we want you to taste them all, that is why we adjusted the portions to one of a tasting dish. You can call it tapa if you want. We want you to have a great time, we want you to eat very well, we want you to laugh, t
From all the places I've been to in Montevideo, this one has something special. Its added value lies in its warming and efficient service, the chill and cozy atmosphere, and last but not least the diverse yet incredible dishes (completely fell for the shrimp dumplings!). Highly recommended for a romantic dinner, a friendly get-together or a family gathering! Thank you, Bruta for the unforgettable night and memories made in this place, we'll be back soon!

This simply charming restaurant uses the freshest of fresh fish for the menu. The owner, Roberto, goes daily to the fish market to decide what to serve for the restaurant. Main dishes are large enough to share. Bring an appetite.Attentive service was an A+.

Friends, my husband and I went here for my birthday far from home. They were very welcoming and cheerful on arrival and stayed that way. The dinner was excellent and my lamb infused with a 12 hour marinade was delicious. I plan to try their approach when I get home.
