Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Margarita Island. Located about 25 miles from the mainland and accessible via air or ferry, Venezuela's mountainous Margarita Island provides Caribbean-style beaches and access to windsurfing, golf, horseback riding and scuba with a laid-back South American vibe. It's comprised of two islands connected in the middle by the mangrove-filled lagoon of La Restinga National Park. Most development falls on the isle's eastern side around busy Porlamar, the capital La Asunción and colonial Pampatar, founded in 1535.

Went there with some locals while visiting Margarita Island and the place was full for lunch on a weekday. Service is professional and prompt while the décor reminds you of an average modern restaurant in Italy...nice but no big deal. I had the chupe de gallina and can say that it was probably one of the best I've ever had. Also had a chance to taste the minestrone they had prepared for the next days menu and it was also outstanding. They only have chupe on Thursdays so check with the restaurant before hand. Then I had the roasted pork and I would say that it was good tasting but not superb. Any Cuban or Puerto Rican version would run rings around their pork. They also served the portion with about four puny boiled potatoes which tasted old if they tasted at all. Furthermore, whoever cut the portions should go back to butchering school. I kept finding little pieces of bone in the meat which is a sure sign of poor butchering and distracted from the dinning experience. As far as I am concerned, the jury is still out on Dolphin.

We just left the restaurant and we were robbed outside the restaurant. We were approached by a guy who we assumed was the guard watching the car. No one walked with us from the restaurant and when i tipped the guy, he grabbed my friend's necklace and ran away. We are very disappointed from the restaurant behavior which sent no one with us to assure our safe departure. The car was about 20 yards from the restaurant but no one bothered to walk with us. It was about 11:00 pm at night and we are extremely shaken by the incident. This is not th first time that I hear about robbers targeting this restaurant

We actually stayed in the hotel attached to the restaurant. The restaurant was to a high international standard with excellent quality food cooked in creative ways. The chef seems very aware of different textures needed for a good meal. The menu had lighter options and a fair range of dishes. The wines are excellent - particularly the reds and at very fair prices. One day we took a passion fruit and a mango in and asked the chef to 'do something' with them. He outdid himself with a wonderful fruit creation that he made in just 10 minutes! The atmosphere is relaxed but highly professional. We tried other places on the island but nothing matched.

We had to wait for a few minutes because the restaurant was full, but it went fast because they decided to open another dining space since we were three groups waiting. The service was good and fast and the food tasty. They had fish, meet, chicken, rice, the price was adequate. We left satisfied and would recommend it.

We ate here twice, not beacause we loved it so much, but because the pizza was very good and the meals were consistent and convenient. I had the 4 cheese pizza-very good the first night, OK the second night. The kids liked the pasta. Service, like in much of this island, is never great. The fruit drinks are always good. Conveniently located in the shooping mall.

This restaurant has a great staff serving the best Spanish and Portuguese food in the whole island. It has an ambiance and incredible service. The owner is always there to help. The Spanish dishes and Portuguese fish recipes are without a doubt the best of the best.

Great place and affordable, especially for tourists. Little expensive for locals. But then again, this is maybe not a place you go to every day if your budget doesnt allow it. If you change your foreign money (dollars and euros) with the rates given on dolartoday.com then you can get 3 plates dishes for around 10-15 dollars depending what you take. It is pure quality and a place you don't want to miss! Go there and enjoy! We were so happy about this place that we went there around 15 times in our 3 month stay in Venezuela.
