" A cuisine that follows the seasons and dishes full of inspiration, in a refined and elegant restaurant made of various venues for banqueting and events. " - ViaMichelin In the warmest months the restaurant also opens in the nice and cozy inner garden.
We stopped here at this hotel/restaurant at the Swiss/Italian boarder. Friendly people, nice food. The spaghetti with duck is highly recommended. The fish on the menu is good.

We visited La Terrazza for the first time after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor and weren't disappointed. Delicious food, beautifully presented, served by friendly courteous staff and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. We'll definitely return and can highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere and design in this new place near Varese. The chef is a famous italian tv-chef and his risotto is outstanding, very friendly service and nice wine selection as well.

We went to the restaurant on Sunday evening with my husband and 2 friends, We had an amazing meal, Not a huge menu which to me is perfect, there was plenty to choose from but not too much to confuse a person. The meal was out standing, not one down fall at all, each plate was as I expected with a little added twist, making the meal stand out from any meal I have had in a very long time !! The wine choice was very good. The surrounding views are beautiful and serene, subtle music and low lights, just perfectThe staff were extremely efficient, polite and well presented. Totally out standing ! An amazing night I will remember for a long time (But please make sure you take mosquito repellent if seated outside, I have more than enough bites to remind me of the evening)

I was there for a quick dinner with some collegues: it was a great experience!Meat was great, rice was a marvellous experience, desserts were the best things you can eat! There is a big private parking area near the restaurant so even if it is a little bit far from the city center it is easy to be reached. At the end a very nice place to eat even in special events!

Hopping over into Italy from Switzerland, we had been looking for a Restaurant with fair value to price ratio offering Pizzas. Asked locals in Malnate, they pointed us this way. This Restaurant fits the bill perfectly. Pizzas from EURO 6,50 to 8,00. Pizzas were perfect, wafer-thin bottom, straight from the oven, extremely quick service, more than two pages of choice just the pizzas. They have meat and fish as well, as seemingly also wine. Did not try any.Comfortable atmosphere, not low-class, white table-linnen, linnen napkins, upper-class context.Very polite service. Drinks not that cheap, a can of Fanta costs EURO 2,50, but the overall experience was worth it.Note: This restaurant seemingly does not usually cater to tourists. We did only note Italian guests, no foreigners, apart from us, of course (German expats living in Switzerland). The staff thus only spoke Italian and Spanish, but communication with hand and " feet" and a smattering of Italian and Spanish was absolutely sufficient. Suggest that male members of your party come with long pants if in the evening, other guests were not casually dressed. Seems they take credit cards, we paid cash.

Usually for lunches we mostly concentrate on Varese and lake areas especially after weird experiences with restaurants in Malnate but this one turned out to be an excellent one.Located in Malnate, out of touristic trails, kind of hidden but in the nearby areas there are some driving directions to the restaurant so if looking for it, will not be difficult to find (better with GPS). The location in a kind of âpiazzaâ recognizable because of its huge Lebanon cedar, at the edge end of a âfascistaâ building (WWI days architectural style) if coming from the street, parking is widely available but this place gets packed at lunchtime but still is not a big issue to look for a parking spot. The ambiance inside is nice, neutral colors (mainly brown and beige) nicely matched, a bit dark, classic restaurant with some antique and modern touches (check their bar lamps!). They have an outdoor seating too, available obviously in summertime or whenever nice weather allows..Food: As many places in the area they have fixed price menu for lunchtime. Nicely presented, adequately portioned and tasty. Fresh ingredients wisely blended with herbs and spices. Same great experience for dinnertimeâ¦.. In one ocassion we had a seabass spiced only with salt, this is an example of how a single adding enhance the natural taste and freshness of the fish. One of the few places where you can taste culinary art in a simple delightful presentation. Excellent quality-ratio-price value. The times when there,we never saw the same menu; frequently they organize themed-gastronomic evenings like Tuscan evenings (Tuscan dishes/wines), Spanish (paella), constantly they are reinventing themselves... Chef and Staff have an outstanding knowledge of oenology and its shown with its great selection of wines.Staff: When there with some Dutch and German colleagues, they got a nice surprise by being talked in Dutch (in reality Flemish but understandable) and German; most of the times some English is spoken even though not widely but people make the effort, but German, Dutch, English and French in one place, a rarity in Varese!! Needless to say, these colleagues for the rest of their mission in Varese, they just wanted to dine there! Besides of the multilingual availability, the staff is fantastically great, efficient, professional and child friendly!! Highly recommended (even a bit apart, but worth looking for this place) like I said, a real oenogastronomic oasis!!!

A restaurant in the countryside Located in the gentle hilly landscape of the Lombardy Prealps, between Como and Varese, the Cascina Diodona is located in the middle of a five-hectare park crossed by paths that border lawns, orchards and chestnut and oak w

The location is nothing special, but inside the ambience is quite pleasant. Food is very good: excellent risotto prepared in many ways, good pastas and main courses served in generous sizes. In once occasion actually the portions were a bit too large. Anna is very charming: welcoming and kind with all guests as well as professional. Prices are correct. All in all a very positive experience. It is often very busy, so reservations are recommended.

With over 500 âexcellentâ reviews and a smattering of âterribleâ my husband and I felt safe in choosing Locanda Garibaldi as a new dining location. Usually in these instances the few outlying bad reviews relate to very specific eventsâ¦a customer felt slighted, the kitchenâs timing was off, the chef perhaps had a rare bad night, etc. However, I really wish we had read through the bad reviews (in Italian) because many of them have common elements, which perfectly capture our night as well.Menu (or lack thereof)There is no menu, and the owner Giuseppe comes over, sits down at your table, and basically suggests what youâll have. (Note: My husband is Italian, and I speak Italian. I have no idea how this process would work with non-Italian speakers!) When asked for details about certain dishes, Giuseppeâs response (in a jovial way) was, âitâs delicious; donât you trust me?â I didnât feel in control at all over my dish selection; however, due to the positive reviews, I felt safe that Iâd probably like what arrived.Food quality/priceIn fact, the food is good, but definitely âcasalingaââ¦think more âGrandmaâs cookingâ rather than âcontemporary cuisine.â Thereâs absolutely nothing wrong with a good home-style dish, but I donât think it warrants the prices charged. In regard to pricing, that too seemed very informal. Without a menu, you canât be certain that your bill wasnât influenced (positively or negatively) by how well you clicked with the owner.Service(This is THE âmake or breakâ element.) As mentioned in other reviews, the owner Giuseppe makes a point to sit down and chat with his customers. And, in fact, after we had finished our meal, Giuseppe returned to our table, sat down and proceeded to talk for at least 20 minutes! By the time he was finished, it was getting late, and we decided to go. I felt what could have been a quiet evening with my husband turned into a table for three.I fully concede that many of the positive reviews are based on exactly the âfriendly and warmâ demeanor of the owners. So Iâd say if youâre the gregarious type who loves (extended) banter with your host, this may be your place. If, like us, you prefer friendly but reserved service and straightforward selection and pricing, I would not recommend Locanda Garibaldi. I wish Giuseppe well, and I appreciate his passion for his work, but this just wasn't our type of place.
