Founded in the early 10th century as the capital of Fatimid-ruled Tunisia, Mahdia is today a quiet port town and provincial center of about 40,000 people, known for its fishing, silk weaving and olive industries. One of Tunisia's most picturesque cities, Mahdia lies between Sousse and Sfax and has many historic attractions, including the ruins of an ancient Punic city (pre-dating Mahdia), the Fatimid port, the first Fatimid mosque (built in the 10th century), and a 16th-century Ottoman fort.

This restaurant looks out on the harbor. Many locals come here for a drink (some drink to much). Also a smoky place to sit. The food is decent. The seafood spaghetti tastes good with some squid and octopus in a thick tomato sauce. The small parts of fish are tender (for the most part) and not rubbery. Not bad, but easy to make at home. By the way it is plenty, but the price a bit high to Tunisian standards. The good thing is we were quite late in the evening and they were still serving food. Other restaurants were closed or didnât serve food anymore.

We ate here as part of our hotel deal. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated and intimate. The waiters are brilliant and the food although not haute cuisine is very good with large portions. Worth a visit.

A café where you can have breakfast, or a drink pieds dans l'eau (feet in water), also you can have a swim while having you coffee on your table...wonderful view of the Mahdia City, central place (near the big Castle, the phare, etc). Absoluetely to see..
