The real, healthy and indipendent Neapolitan pizzeria and cuisine in the heart of Lichfield.
visited here for my birthday in June, we went without a reservation as we were already in Lichfield.. wasn't a problem. Here you can get lovely authentic italian pizza, so authentic in fact that at the time we were there, there were two other groups of italian people eating here too.. you cant get much better than that.. waitress was brilliant and the pizza.. simply bellissima.. thanks you

Enjoy freshly cooked Mediterranean food, wine and cocktails with a stunning view of Lichfield Cathedral. Set on the banks of Minster Pool and boasting some of the best views in the City, Ego is a must visit for its Mediterranean food, family friendly dini
As visitors staying locally we walked past this nicely situated restaurant, checked out the menu and decided it was worth a visit for dinner. Firstly I will say how friendly the young staff were, on a busy evening and I appreciate they serve, not cook it.The food however, was average. Shared meze starter was ok, hummus fairly bland. My partnerâs lamb was tasty but my falafel definitely overcooked. The couscous looked like it had come straight out the microwave, with clumps of unfluffed grains that no amount of sprinkled pomegranate seeds could disguise. For a very average chain restaurant, the food is pretty uninspiring and overpriced. We wouldnât bother again.Hello there,Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review - please do let us know if there are any issues with your food during your meal, so that we can have the oppertunity to rectify them for you - we will always happile replace a dish for you or do anything else we can to help.We will be sure to pass on all of your feedback onto the team and hope to see you soon...

Our recent visit to Sorisso in Lichfield was for my husband and I to celebrate his birthday. We have visited the premises many times before its very recent transformation from Ristorante Sorrento to Ristorante Sorisso. The structure of the place is exactly as it was under the old owners, however it is now glaringly bright which takes away from the atmosphere. The new owners also seem to have packed in more tables. We booked the table about a week before visiting using the table booking button on their website, this was confirmed by email shortly after. The night of our planned visit came around, 8pm on a Saturday. We arrived to find a busy restaurant which is always promising. No music but lots of loud tables â a clear indicator that people were enjoying themselves. We presented ourselves to the waiter to came over to us at the door, there didnât seem to be a maitre de. The young waiter checked his paper record and asked several times for our name, at one point I was starting to think the booking had gone wrong, I retrieved my phone from my bag and opened up the confirmation email, the waiter then established that they had booked the table in my first name.We were shown to a small table by the bar in what I can only describe as a walkway. I was not happy with the table, particularly as we had booked well in advance, my husband decided that we should say nothing and just see how the evening unravelled. The staff all seemed to be very busy attending to their tables. We were first asked if we wanted drinks and ordered a bottle of Malbec. The wine arrived quickly; we were offered a sample but as it was a wine that we have had before we declined. The wine was served at perfect temperature.A waiter then asked if we were ready to order and then proceeded to tell us about the dayâs specials, which sounded lovely. He then left us to consider the menu further for another ten minutes or so â possibly a little too long.We ordered from the al a carte menu, Focaccia Aglio (Pizza base with garlic & rosemary) to share between us, I chose the Funghi Darwin (Mushrooms sauteed in a garlic cream sauce) to start, my husband the Bruschetta Rustica (Toasted ciabatta bread with marinated cherry & olives). For our main courses I chose Risotto in barca (Risotto with calamari, king prawns, mussels and clams) and my husband Pollo Nduja (Chicken breast stuffed with nduja spicy salami, mozzarella tomato sauce and a touch of cream served with broccoli and parmentier potatoes). Our food started to arrive quickly, the Focaccia Aglio was simple and as expected, the bruschetta looked appetising and again as expected however the was no evidence of garlic in the mushrooms which were swimming in cream and frankly bland, I didnât finish them; our waited asked if there was a problem with the mushrooms and I explained (as I have here), the mushrooms were deducted from our bill. The main courses then arrived. The Pollo Nduja was tasty but slightly dry, the accompaniments were all fine. The risotto was good also.Would we go back? A definite no. The restaurant seems to have lost all of its character. Under the old owners walking to the place was like stepping into a little bit of Italy, it was just like one of my favourite little off the beaten track restaurants that I loved in Florence, how it is bright lights, stark with no music⦠its feeling is as authentic as Ask. The Italian waiters clearly know how they should conduct themselves and offer an exceptional service, the young English lads need to smile and engage with their patrons. It wasnât just the poor starter that blighted the evening for us, it was the whole ambiance, it just did nothing for us at all. Otherâs may wax lyrical, for us Italian food is special, we want to spend the evening at our table and embrace the Italian culture of food and family we felt we were shoved in a corner, packed, racked and stacked.
