This is a family-owned, 2nd generation Bogotá classic which is lovingly and carefully managed and often full to the gills with the cityâs biggest power players/repeat customers at lunch or dinner. They use the finest ingredients and every dish is executed to perfection. The space is in a semi-basement and quite formal with attentive, impeccable, well-trained service, which many long time clients appreciate (itâs not trendy and thatâs not their thing but that does not mean that this is not one of the best restaurants in town.) A place we return to over the years because they consistently deliver a very high quality experience. One of the few places with moist duck, truly ripe tomatoes, actual gambas and morcilla de burgos.

Matiz restautant is set in a charming historical building that has been extended tastefully. We had a table in the winter garden, by an artificial waterfall, which was beautiful. The waiters were very attentive and charming. And the menu was amazing â we would have loved to pick each and every meal. Needless to say the food was delicious and did justice to their reputation as seafood specialists.

Disappointed, not so much because of the food but of the poor service.Friendly but inefficient waiters sent us to a table where we didn't want to sit, arguing that the others were reserved (although nobody showed up and the restaurant never filed up). Then waiters insisted in offering the most expensive selections, Food took very long to arrive, waiters had to apologize several times for it, Food itself was quite good, but the experience was ruined.

Saw the queue in front of the place and figured it must be there for a reason. Waited 15 minutes to be seated, but it was well worth waiting. The burger I had was really, really good and also the lemonade was top notch. All a reasonable prices and additionally with special deal conditions. Go there if you want a great burger!

We initially choose this restaurant due to its high rating on trip advisor. However, the food is not that great, we have had much better Italian food for half the price in Colombia. Since we are from Europe, we know what Italian food tastes like. Our pasta was boring, just noodles with cheese (and additional mini shrimp for 17k cop), and the pizza was descent but nothing special. Price/quality wise I would simply not recommend this restaurant, the food is overpriced and the service is also not worth the money.Hello Heida,I am so sorry you did not like our food. We do respect everyones opinions and tastes and healthy criticism is always welcome even if differs entirely with the big majority of our diners' opinions. What we DO NOT respect and consider utterly offensive is the insinuation that you, just because you are from Europe (The Netherlands, beautiful country, famous for its dairy, tulips, stroopwafles, pancakes, windmills, very nice people, etc. but not so much for it's gastronomy ... This place is a real find. The service is good, the manager very attentive, and the food uniformly excellent. It is not easy to fund duck in Bogota (their ducks are imported form Canada) and magret was absolutely delicious. Servers are polite and very attentive you will never run out of pita. Our driver recommended this restaurant as he lives near the area and what a find. We stopped for lunch on the way back to Bogota and had the best tapas I've ever had ( and that includes Spain - the chef/owner is Spanish). The octopus and potatoes with an oil and herb dressing were tender and delicious. Other dishes equally satisfying. The chardonnay was good and went well. If we didn't have to leave to drive on to Bogota we could have stayed a lot longer trying other fascinating dishes, each perfectly cooked.
