A cold and rainy night in Johannesburg? Easily rectified by a visit to the local Italian restaurant in Craighall, Pronto, for some hearty and delicious pasta. This firm favourite deserves its place as one of our go-to restaurants. Consistent quality and excellent service explain the full tables every night. We chose Linguine; Dolce Latte for him, and chicken with spinach, rocket and pine nuts for me. Both were creamy, flavorful and delicious. A ricotta salad completed the feast. A most enjoyable evening, delicious dinner and great service. Hey there. A huge thank you for your beautiful review and patronage. We so appreciate your positive feedback and look forward to sharing your kind words with the whole team. Happy dining and we look forward to hosting you again soon.

My local works colleagues had reserved a large table by the window for a mid week evening dinner at the Villa Bianca recently. Parking is for free outside, just off the road. In fact there is nothing special about this area - seemed rather a strange location for a high class restaurant but it was, nonetheless doing a brisk trade on the evening that we were there.Getting the drinks in with a crowd of around a dozen diners was a bit of a challenge but our dedicated waitress did her best - very successfully in fact. I followed her recommendation and had a Jack Blacks draught beer to start off with. As we were about to order our food from the extensive and very comprehensive menu of mixed international offerings (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, South African etc.), our waitress returned to cite a plethora of extra specials in glorious detail. Wow. What a memory. As it was I went for the snails as a starter - swimming in delicious garlic butter. And for the main course I went for steak served with a blue cheese sauce and an avocado on top. It was served with cooked vegetables. I left the choice of the wines to the local experts. We started with a bottle ofPinotage Kanonkop 2016 and then followed that with a bottle of Merlot Meerlust 2015.Some of us had desserts. I didn't. I was full and very satisfied. This is truly a restaurant that I can thoroughly recommend.

Schwarma & Grill, Mediterranean an Middle Eastern Cuisine
The restaurant was full (good for business, tricky for service) so we had quite long waits to get served and also some rather long breaks between food delivery. We mistakenly ordered the Mediterranean Platter for 4 (we were 5) and the tables were far too small to accommodate the multitude of bowls and plates that were brought. The offerings were tasty but the lack of space made it an uncomfortable and squashed eating experience. The on-tap beers were sadly on the warm side and we all had various degrees of âbathroom emergenciesâ in the night. Possibly just bad luck on a bad day.

Run by the Da Cunha Family.
Fun ambiance and service superb. That doesnât make up for fact fish was rubbery and not properly cooked. Seasoning was uneventful. Hoped for more peri peri taste although they had sauce in table. Not the same as grilled with sauce. Liver starter excellent. Also excellent security getting in and out from street. Sketchy neighborhood way off the grid. Take taxi not safe.

Resturants
A brightly lit, fast-paced, and very loud restaurant. We chose this restaurant based upon its reputation and were disappointed. Rather than an elegant and relaxing evening we were rushed the entire evening by an overly aggressive waiter who seemed to want to get rid of us as soon as possible. The food was only average. One example would be the grilled kingclip that had no indication of being grilled. There were no grill marks nor flavor. Overall, our visit was quite disappointing.

Always a treat. Arguably Joburg's finest Italian-inspired eatery, serving classic Italian dishes, some with a local flair, and a few other international fine-dining offerings. The risotto is an absolute triumph, as is the gnocchi. The Porcini chicken with pea risotto as a Secondi will rival the quality of any Tuscan Michelin-star offering, and the roasted butternut ravioli with Porcini-Truffle cream and candied walnuts is perfection personified. Desserts are inspirational. The pavlova is incredibly special, as is the Salted Caramel Brûlée with popcorn Gelato. Expect fine dining, beautiful decor, prices that are slightly higher than the norm (although very reasonable if one considers the serving sizes and the quality), impeccable service and a fantastic wine list and drinks menu, with reasonably priced cocktails. This is a top-class establishment serving only the finest of Italian pastas, meats, seafood, desserts and drinks. Not only one of Joburg's finest, but one of the finest Italian eateries South Africa has to offer. Café Del Sol Classico is an institution. You will leave with a smile on your face and an even bigger smile in your belly. Hello BradWow.
