New Brunswick is fortunate to have good Middle Eastern restaurants; I think Namli is the best. Beautifully spiced and freshly prepared food served by nice people in a comfortable, attractive space. BYO - but you can have wine quickly delivered by the neighborhood liquor store if you prefer. The outdoor patio is a treat in summer. You canât go wrong at Namli.

Evelyn's is one of the few MidEast restaurants that still make meat-filled Grape Leaves. Most only have vegan variants, but authentic stuffed Grape Leaves have meat! (They also have vegan ones [yuck]).The Shawarma was awesome, and homemade. Their babaganoush is also authentically smoky (it's supposed to be grilled eggplant, which gives it a nice smoky flavor), which also makes them somewhat unique. So many Mideast restaurants don't make it properly.I highly suggest a visit to Evelyn's - they've been there for many years (I remember going there when I went to Rutger's in the 1980's!), so you know that if they've made it this long, they must be good!
Picked up food here for the family. Everyone in the family was impressed. Portion sizes were good. Meats were cooked well and delicious.

Looking for affordable delicacies about as far from Istanbul as I can imagine, i.e. on the muddy banks of the Raritan, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, two blocks from the Rutgers University campus, friends recommended Efes. Dinner was a delight. It's Turkish regional cooking, perfectly seasoned and sizzled and graciously served. We went for a combination plate of cold appetizers followed by lamb adana, a savory sausage on a skewer, for me, and shish kebab for a friend.

Great food, Glatt kosher!!! Best hashgaha you can find. Very pleasant staff, eager to please, great atmosphere. Bring your own liquor. They don't have liquor licence. Do you know what döner kebab is? If you don't, you don't know what you are missing. If you are not kosher you can certainly find döner kebab elsewhere. But, if you are kosher this is the ONLY place in the Northeast and may be in America. The owner says, there are three glatt kosher Turkish restaurants in the world. One in Jerusalem, one in Istanbul and one in Highland Park, New Jersey. Patronize this place. I promise you. You will not regret!!!

Italian- leaning cuisine with Greek elements, this homey restaurant is run by a Greek family. Irene, the co-owner, pitches in with the regular chef, and often cooks the Greek dishes and desserts. Service is friendly and helpful, if not always speedy. Locals come regularly for the good food, atmosphere and daily specials (which are often among the best offerings).

First time diner. Stopped in in Motherâs Day. Wait about 10 minutes before seated, not bad at all with no reservations. Ordered appetizer and entrees, see pics attached. Noticed other diners were given pita bread upon seating, we werenât offered any. Mushroom soup was outta this world great. Appetizer was the 5 hummus sampler and all were good though we hadda wait over 5 additional minutes for the pita bread so we could enjoy our hummus. Entree was a chicken something, forgot the name. Was good but extremely salty. The chicken also didnât feel right. Almost as a piece would have the texture of defrosting chicken in s microwave. It was cooked though but the texture had the above mentioned feel to it. Unknown if it was or wasnât, just stating my experience and my opinion. Not once did our server come over and ask how our food was. A knife, other than a butter knife to cut up the food would have been appreciated but since the server failed to come back, we hadda mane do with our butter knives. Too full for dessert, so we werenât even interested. Oh and our server arrived with our bill in hand. Food was a 4 at best. Service was a 3. Restaurant has a small lot, holds maybe 15 vehicles so if you can snag a spot it is a huge plus versus parking on the street somewhere. Would I recommend, maybe. Would I go back, probably not.

We decided to try someplace different for lunch. The service was friendly. The restaurant was clean. The problem was some of the food was clearly reheated from the prior day. No excuse for any restaurant to serve leftovers. If you do ever decide to try this place I would not recommend lunch. One and done.
