Sumela Turkish & Mediterranean Restaurant

Saddened to have to rate only 4. Very nice folks in this family run establishment, clean and good atmosphere, these folks work very hard no doubt. Unfortunately the food is not a five star material for someone who is rather familiar with mediterranean cuisine, they have a decent vegan selection, if that helps... Their piyaz is very good

Have been coming here for years. I have always enjoyed the food. They have slipped a little of friendliness as they used to be big on welcoming you when you walked in. I think they have franchised out, but still great place for quick healthy lunch.

We decided to have dinner this evening at Odeh's. Let me give you a tip about how to locate the restaurant. Odeh's is located in a shopping and restaurant center with lots of individual buildings. The restaurant is in a freestanding building that also has a kickboxing center and a Mexican restaurant. The front door of Odeh's is facing Eastchester, although their address is on Tinsley Drive. You order and pay at a front counter, are given a number stand to place on your table, and your meal is delivered to you. Their menu is extensive, so you may want to check out their menu online before you go. I ordered the Beef Shawarma Platter ($9.59) with the beef served over rice with a salad and a whole pita bread cut into triangles. The beef was in nice large pieces and I ordered a medium spice level which was perfect for me. The rice was moist and tasty and had carrots and peas in it also. I loved the salad and it was crisp and delicious. You also get a cup of dressing for your salad and a cup of hummus sauce to dip your pita in. The pita, dressing, and sauce were all yummy. The meal was carefully and attractively plated on a large oval platter and was a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. My husband ordered the Kafta Platter ($8.99) - an entree which he had never tried before. He had a salad, french fries, and pita as well. The french fries were cooked perfectly, nice and golden brown. He enjoyed his salad and pita as well. The Kafta were good, but he will probably order the Beef Shawarma next time as he prefers the Beef Shawarma. I brought a take home container and took home half my Beef Shawarma and rice, pita bread, hummus sauce, and some Kafta for lunch tomorrow. The charming owner came to our table, thanking us for coming and asking if he could get anything for us. He was visiting all the customers at their tables. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant and bid farewell as we left. All the food is ultra fresh and carefully prepared and presented. We will be frequent diners at Odeh's and we think you will enjoy it too! I very rarely give a restaurant a 5 star rating, but Odeh's certainly earned it!Thank you Nancy!
