Our consumer choices come down to personal preferences, particularly with regard to restaurants. Some like meat while others prefer seafood; we choose between fast-casual or fine dining; Chinese or Italian; etc. Yet, no matter our personal preferences, most everyone is looking for the same essential elements in a restaurant---fresh, tasty food, reasonable prices, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Cafe Med excels in each of those areas. Located in a rather nondescript strip mall in an area populated largely by offices, Cafe Med is a pleasant oasis with modern art pieces on the walls, glass-topped tables covering interesting tablecloths, comfortable chairs, and an inviting atmosphere. The menu is extensive with the usual Mediterranean appetizers; a wide range of salads; interesting pita, subs, and focaccia creations; and desserts. We enjoyed the hummus, original gyros, and chicken tuscano pita. It was obvious that each dish was freshly made with high quality ingredients. The chicken tuscano pita was the tastiest chicken dish I've had. We were going to pass on dessert but the owner prevailed upon us to try the baklava. We have never enjoyed the dish, finding it too sweet. Not here. The baklava is filled with fresh, chopped pistachios covered in flaky pastry and was the perfect end to our meal. To complete the experience, the kind, interesting owner engaged us in very pleasant conversation. Excellent food, freshly prepared, quality ingredients, reasonable prices and a family-run business. We're jealous, Memphis. Were Cafe Med in our town, we would be regulars.

Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Foods serving Shawarma, Kabobs, Hummus, Falafel, Salads, Vegetarian Dishes & Baklava
I would add a * if they served Wine. Drinking water or tea while eating Lamb just doesnât do it for me. Itâs beside Germantown High School, but the Poplar Ave. location doesnât serve Wine either. The Spanakopita Appetizer ($6) was very tasty. But the Lamb K-Bob ($16.95) was overcooked & on the tough side. It was served on a bed of rice, carrots, & potatoes. Iâm still in search of a local restaurant that serves the succulent Roast Leg of Lamb a la Melos Taverna. The Interior is pleasant ~ but the Front Deck, just feet from Poplar Pike, is lacking in ambiance because of the high traffic volume.

This is a quaint restaurant in a strip mall in Germantown. We arrived at around 7:00 pm and we were greeted nicely by our waitress and seated at a table quickly. It is a casual restaurant although the table had white linen tablecloths. Interesting fact. If you pay cash they give you a 10% discount! They do except credit cards as well. You can also BYOB of wine. They do charge a corkage fee. They don't serve alcohol. My wife had the lamb chops and couscous. I had the Greek salad with salmon. Both dishes were very good. I recommend you give them a try if you enjoy Greek food.
