Reviews on Mediterranean food in Galatone, Province of Lecce, Italy. Galatone is a town and comune located in Salento, in the province of Lecce (Apulia, southern Italy), the former seat of the Marquess of Galatone. It is one of the most populous towns of the province and its territory includes an immaculate stretch of coast overlooking the Ionian Sea with the localities of La Reggia and Montagna Spaccata.

The reviews are great, we couldnt get in on our first attempt as they told us it was full. (I now have my suspicions if that was true)So we booked with high hopes. Its a beautiful looking restaurant (apart from the toilet seat that needs replacing). The service however was strange and uncomfortable as it was so fast. Plates were delivered one at a time and finished plates were removed whilst the other was still eating (because their food arrived late). There needs to be more choice for children. Children are not easy so why not have at least one simple solution perhaps a pasta with a simple neutral sauce. The waitress suggested a swordfish. Ok we took it but it arrived exactly that. No potato, no chips Nothing. We took mussels (obviously cooked) raw tuna (obviously not cooked). Should be simple to serve both at the same time but apparently not, the cooked dish arrived 2 or 3 minutes before the uncooked dish. For primi we took 2 daily specials and again they arrived 2 or 3 minutes apart. The restaurant was not busy and even if it was it would be wrong. Its a shame as this was our 8th dinner in Puglia and by a long way the most disappointing. We left without a main course, dessert or coffee and still paid 75 euro. Yes they gave a small discount but that not the point and the pleasure was lost.

My wife and I spent a very pleasant evening with a couple of friends and their kids. The food offer varies every day depending on the products available in the local markets, creating the perfect occasion to experience different dishes every time. The price range is very affordable and the ingredients are always fresh. The family friendly atmosphere follows the restaurantâs title and vocation: Convivium

Trattoria tipica nel centro storico di Galatone; Continua, con una nuova gestione, la tradizione delle antiche cantine di un tempo. Ieri come oggi, si continuano a degustare i piatti tipici salentini con ottimo vino. - Typical restaurant in the old town o

We would like catering to be our forte and our dishes to full of warmth and joy, local tradition and culture, and simplicity. At the table you will find orecchiette, ciceri e tria, spaghetti schiattati, ricotta fresca, polpette al sugo, zucchine a scapece
We stayed Lo Prieno near Galatone for two nights which we would have extended if we had had more time. We came here because we had read about it in a cookbook called âSaluteâ. Maria welcomed us with coffee and took time to show us around and to explain all about the working olive grove we were staying at. The room was basic but clean, large and very comfortable with flyscreens and a pedestal fan so we had no trouble sleeping with the cool breeze at night. The room was a 3 min walk through the olive grove to the dining area. Breakfast consisted of coffee and home-made pastries and breakfast cake or bread sometimes straight out of the oven. We booked for dinner both nights and as we were the only guests this early in the season, Maria cooked for us. It was excellent, something not to be missed if you are interested in local cuisine. Vito explained the significance of the foods and the local wines. They gave us advice on where to drive and which local towns to visit for interesting sights. Wifi was provided when we asked. If you like to stay off the beaten track in an authentic location where little English is spoken and there are few tourists, if you love food and are open to a âcucina poveraâ experience, this is the place.

For years Gustavo has been consistently on my short list of restaurants I recommend in Salento. After my most recent visit in May 2019 it has secured its place on that list once again. Carmella and crew have created a warm and relaxed environment...the embodiment of the Salento spirit...combined with food made with the freshest local ingredients. Always look forward to a return visit.

We arrived here on the word of locals and were not disappointed. The staff were most helpful in meeting requests and we followed their suggestions. While not extraordinary, the food was very well-prepared, the house wine was good. The bill for the evening was most reasonable.

I've been to li papi a few times now - never disappointed! In August we were sat in the garden, under olive trees. The atmosphere is very relaxed, not too casual, an ideal place for friends to have a meal out. There is always plenty of food and I can't think of anyone having left the table hungry! I'd definitely come back!

We had dinner with some friends. The chef suggested a variety of dishes and wines, so we followed his advice. Nothing was a better choice: the food was outstandingly good, dishes we never tasted before. Local wines, a pleasure to enjoy! Danilo, the chef, was presenting the menu himself: this is a dinner to remember!!
