Celebrated my wife's birthday here and had an awesome experience. Gigi our server was outstanding in every way. Her charm, suggestions and service were 5 stars all the way. From the wine selection, appetizers and main course all of her suggestions were spot on. All of our dishes which include grilled octopus, smoked duck pate, steak & lobster and lobster risotto were perfect. A fabulous meal!

Four of us came here for dinner tonight on the recommendation of friends. The place was packed and they are fully booked until the last seating at 10pm! Don't try to come here without a reservation, esp when there's an event at Rogers Place. The restaurant is small but they do have 2 levels and so, can seat quite a few people. Decor is warm and has a definite Mediterranean feel to it. Service was good except that we had to wait a long time for our pita to go with our hummus appetizer. Our meal ended up taking 2.5 hrs to eat and I knew there were people waiting for our table but it wasn't our fault - the food took quite a while to come out. However, we did not feel rushed and didn't feel like we had to leave at the 2 hr mark.Cocktails I tried were very good. I would recommend the Ladies Beach and the Kosmos. They also have a variety of local beers and a decent wine list. You must start with the freshly made pita with hummus dip. The date hummus was also very good - it was my favourite. I had the lamb loin with grilled prawns. I am not a lamb fan but thought I would try it since I was at a Turkish restaurant. It was perfectly done! The lamb was a perfect medium. It was tender and did not have any gamey taste at all. It was very flavourful and the grilled prawns were also very tasty. The meal came with a green salad with a light honey mustard vinaigrette (which was a nice balance to the meat), grilled peppers and a side of couscous. There was tons of food! Others in my group had the rack of lamb, chicken kebob and meatballs - all were delicious. We were so full that we did not want dessert but the rice pudding looked so good, that we ended up sharing one - it was fantastic! Chilled rice pudding, creamy and not too sweet, finished with a caramelized crust (sort of like a creme brûlée) - delicious!Prices were very reasonable. Portions were large. It is definitely comfort food that would satisfy you on a cold winter's day.

Weâve been fans of Sabor and Bodega on The Boardwalk downtown for some time but Iâd completely missed the fact that there was a Bodega in Highlands. Smaller and comfy but easy to accommodate couples and small groups this extension of the Sabor brand delivers the same quality service and food in a smaller and more intimate setting. The four of us (two couples) shared numerous small plates and even shared a Seafood Paella and drinks for two to three hours. Well priced at around $9 a plate for tapas thereâs always something for anyone. The Grilled Octopus, Artichoke, Piri Piri Prawns and of course Jason Serrano are my faves, but the benefit of having a group of four is exploring more variety. Iâll admit Iâm a huge fan of this style of dining, eat, drink share and explore. I remember when this spot was the old Highlands Pizza and then Highlands Culina so it seems only natural that Bodega has landed here to deliver exceptional casual dining to this cool little strip. They donât take reservations although they apparently can make accommodations in advance for a larger group, but itâs worth making the trip and hey thereâs three options around town if this one is full.
