Visiting the Olive Bistro on numerous occasions this visit was very disappointing with quality of certain food items to drop. The toppings of the pizzas are paper thin. We had the Namibian pizza. The Eisbein was over fried or a previously leftover one was reused. When a restaurant becomes too busy you expect the quality to drop.

I had never visited this establishment before, despite the fact that I have lived in Durbanville for a very long time and had only heard good reports. When friends suggested that we have a meal there, I looked forward to the experience. It has been going for years and this is always a good sign.The decor is surprisingly simple and I personally found the ambience to be slightly lacking.Be that as it may, the welcome was professional and the service was good throughout. My meal (a seafood pasta that arrived in foil to retain the flavour/juices) was very good. However, it was the reaction of the other five members of the party that forced me to award Zibaldone an extra star : they all raved about their food.We took our own wine and paid corkage. I cannot remember how much it was. All in all, a very pleasant evening was had by all.

Ordered a takeaway dinner from Ocean Basket Glengarry. Grilled medium 200g Kingklip with salad. R109.00. Very friendly waiters. Offered me a complimentary drink whilst I wait. Having recently visited Turkey where we fell in love with their cuisine, imagine our pleasant surprise finding a cosy restaurant right on our doorstep, in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Easy to locate with secure parking, this intimate setting with its Mediterranean background music took me back to our recent trip. We shared our first course, the mezze platter for 2, without realising it would be more than sufficient. Having said that, we also finished our main course served promptly after our starter. The food was warm, tasty and well seasoned. All round a good nostalgic night out and definitely worth a return visit.
