Reviews on Mediterranean food in Cephalonia, Ionian Islands, Greece. The sapphire waters of Cephalonia are steeped with history. The large Greek island was home to Odysseus, the legendary king hailed in Homer’s The Odyssey. Fortunately, it won’t take you ten years to get there. Explore the enchanting caverns of the Drogarati caves, sail to Ithaca on a glass-bottomed boat or marvel at the ancient artifacts inside the Archaeological Museum of Argostoli, Cephalonia’s main town. Or just hide from it all at one of the island’s many private beach coves.

Set 'deep' amoungst the orange trees, Esperides is a lovely taverna that offers a really lovely alternative to the typical Greek taverna. Lovely authentic Greek food presented in a modern approach. Friendly hostess and the best and most devoted Maitre d' you'll ever find (the dog). It was a long walk from our hotel, but I would go back for sure.

Relaxed atmosphere, open till late for your greek grill or a nice couple of vegitaren dishes.Menu from snack to main meals always freshly cooked as you can see our open kichern.
My wife and I have been visiting Katelios for years but had only been to the Grill House once, instead sticking with many of our known favourites. We decided to give it another try last night and the food was fantastic! We both opted for one of that eveningâs specials, which was slow cooked pork. This was deliciously tender and left us wondering why weâd waited so long to go back! The bill only backed this up as it was easily one of our most reasonably priced meals of our holiday. A must!

We booked a table and glad we did as this place is very popular. This is a special place and we went here for our wedding anniversary, We asked for a table with a view and we certainly got that, we were placed looking out to sea. They have great taste in decor and use beautiful glasses, decanters and plates. The food was delicious and the house red was good. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. They knew it was our wedding anniversary and brought us a delicious dessert with a candle which we thought was a lovely gesture. We arrived in a taxi but they wouldn't drive up to Anemos because the road is quite bad so we walked the last 5 minutes or so.We got this taverna to order a taxi back to our hotel and they insisted in getting a taxi that did drive along this bad road. We thank you for making our anniversary very special and look forward to coming back next year.

Original Greek Grill House! We grill fresh meat on real charcoals the time you order it! Limited menu to be always fresh for you. If you like gyros you should try our KONTOSOUVLI! Thank you!
During our two week stay in Trapezaki we visited this restaurant 4 times for food and twice sat in the lovely front garden for drinks. The service here is attentive and friendly. The owner Kiriakos introduced himself on the first visit and he and his team were very professional. We tried many of the dishes both from the main menu and specialities and all were excellent, plentiful and well priced. They take time to explain the dishes and give a choice of accompaniments. We would highly recommend a visit.

Occasionally you order something from a restaurant that, whilst perfectly cooked and presented, really isn't for you. It's when that happens that you discover what the customer care of a restaurant is all about. Well, the response from both waiter and owner at Acqua Alaties was superb. I had declined an alternative, but the course I had rejected was still taken off the bill, a glass of wine offered "on the house" as was a coffee. Thank you - the gesture was much appreciated. As other reviewers have said, this restaurant offers great views of the sunset; is adjacent to a lovely little beach and is the perfect place for a light super. Whilst my meal was not right for me, I could see that other clients were having a great time.

This restaurant is located on the very last turn before actually getting on the Vatsa beach itself (about 100 m from the beach).
Beautiful place. Very friendly service. It is obvious that they care about the quality of the food. I imagine everything is home made. Today Lamb Kleftiko was on special. Home cooked. Apparently it took 24 hours to prepare and cook. It was amazing, served in the parchment that it was cooked in.I only wish I could go back and try something else.

Ladokolla Stin Plagia is a family restaurant which is on the village Damoulianata 10 km out of Lixouri. The basic characteristic of our reastaurant is the traditional local cuisine. The most famous plates are the meatpie of Kate, the salad of plagia with
We enjoyed our meal, but didn't think it warrents 'really good' as the rating. Toyed between a 3 and 4 star for a good while! The restaurant location is excellent - we watched a great sunset from table...although they have pull down plastic blinds which dull the scene a bit. Staff were lovvvelly- a credit to their trade. We had the spicy cheese dip with lovely crusty herbed bread and the Meat pie to start. Absolutely delicious - our first taste of a Kefalonian meat pie which is a must try.The mains though lacked any greatness that we had hoped for from a restaurant at the top spot in Kefalonia on Tripadvisor. We had Alexandria's Chicken: the chicken was overwhelmingly dry but the flavours were all there. Also the huge 4 hour cooked leg of pork - again dry in most places (we took it home to make sandwiches!) and the flavour was OK but not stand out. All in all, great flavours but largely reheated dishes. Perhaps if the chicken had been cooked to order then added to a batch cooked sauce it would have been more succulent for instance.

We were recommended to try Kastro by two other couples we met on holiday. The specials menu had a list of mouthwatering cheesecakes and we opted for the Black Forest cheesecake on the recommendation of others. It was delicious! The setting is beautiful and staff very friendly. We'd happily return for a meal.

Warm, family environment with Greek traditional dishes.. Right meals of the day and in the souvla.with fresh meats and food cooked with the most pure materials...We are waiting for you in our perennial summer veranda .. You we wait and welcome you... Maria
Maria and her husband have been amazing hosts and food delicious. We arrived on a Wednesday evening very late, they were about to close and not much choice of food left because they have been extremely busy with many customers that day, and Maria prepares all dishes fresh everyday. But they have been amazing, welcoming us and feeding us with delicious grilled meat. They were very friendly and the outside covered terrace is lovely.

In the heart of the central square of Argostoli, there is a warm family running restaurant with traditional Greek cooking, fresh products (from our own farm) wines of the region and generous portions in cheap prices. All of this waits for you in our lovely
This was recommended in an old rough guide. We all tried something different, the meat pie was apparently super, I tried the aubergines imam after a salad starter. It was delicious. Thereâs a covered garden area through the restaurant which was perfect on a hot day.
