Reviews on Mediterranean food in Cape Town Central, Western Cape, South Africa. Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

Hi Thando at La Parada. We had a wonderful introduction to Cape Town on our first day eating in La Parada on the Waterfront in Cape Town one lunchtime. The food here is first class, the lady serving us was called Thando and was so helpful and gave us lots of information on the city and places to visit. We sat and watched the seals playing in the water in the bay. Good luck with your football Thando. best wishes, Margaret and Malcolm, (Middlesbrough supporter)Thank you for this lovely review and message to Thando, Margaret and Malcolm. We will pass on your feedback and wish you a magnificent time in the Mother City further, please do join us again when you are in the area.Benjamin and the La Parada Team

Soak up the atmosphere of our timeless dining room while savouring much-loved classics and impeccable service. The elegant, wood-panelled space dates from the hotelâs inauguration in 1899. It was here that, in 1994, President Nelson Mandela welcomed the w
We dined here this week, and had a most enjoyable meal.Lovely historic room, well spaced tables. We shared the signature beef Wellington, and it was still too large for 2. But it was excellent.Wine list is well sized and with good selection.Good service.Overall a good experience.Dear Northern Wanderer, thank you for the beautiful review, we are truly delighted that you had such an enjoyable time with us. Best regards, Johann

Great outdoor seating under wonderful old tree. Excellent coffee and Turmeric Latte went well with very filling trout eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce could have done with more lemon juice to break up the richness of the potato spirals that were fried and very rich with oil. The views of the neighbourhood were splendid. A good start to the day.Thank you so much for the valuable feedback, and for choosing us as your breakfast spot! Your points regarding the hollandaise were noted and forwarded on to the head chef to look into. Wishing you a good start to every day!

After reading about the last two reviews that had many negative points, we still decided to visit and had an excellent evening. I sat next to the winery entrance and even so it was not cold (as read in other reviews), later they put a gas heater close by without any prompting. The service was excellent (Wayne), the food (Tapas) was very good especially the oxtail Gnocchi and the ambience suited us as a couple for the evening to celebrate a special occasion. We started with a glass each of bubbly to celebrate the occasion and then the waiter brought us a sample of each of the house white wines (Dorrance) and we selected the Chardonnay and the Viognier. As it turned out the sampler of the Chenin Blanc and the Chardonnay were swapped and the Chardonnay glass that we ordered was replaced and the glass of Chenin Blanc was left at our table at no cost. Being a wooded Chardonny fan I found their Chardonnay very good. After sharing 6 tapas plates we decided to end a superb evening without taking up their deserts or coffee offering.

We always try to get to Pigalle when in Cape Town and this year's visit was wonderful. The seafood is the calling card and it did not disappoint. I had the Pigalle platter which is prawns and langoustines, both of which were really tasty. Two of my colleagues shared the seafood platter for 2 and enjoyed every bit of it. The third colleague had the calamari which was also quite good. They all had the malva pudding for dessert and said it was the best they had ever had. One of my colleagues was celebrating her birthday so they wrote "Happy birthday!!" on her dessert plate and had a candle for her to blow out. It was all perfect. We also really enjoyed the live music. One note of advice, I would not recommend walking from your hotel despite it being a short distance as it is off an alleyway in a business district where most of the buildings are closed after dark.

We were walking around after going to the District Six Museum........Bo Kaap......Greenmarket Square,etc.....so we stopped in for cappuccino. We were given a tiny complimentary bite of something....and we ordered a stuffed cannoli to share. We were not impressed with the cannoli filling. The BEST part of our visit was conversing with the guy next to us, who it turns out started the vineyard from scratch: ELGIN RIDGE. The gal in charge even gave us a tasting of his sauvignon bllanc. It was delish.

Really fin night out with great entertainment by the signing waiters. The food is great too, we had the bread plate (excellent romanesco dip) and meat plate (great fillet). I would recommend this for a group night out - birthdays, celebrations etc. Sing along, dance on the tables, drink too much, go have some fun!

It was Heritage Day....and we walked here from Company Gardens. Even arrived before it's 6:30 PM opening and Jane was MOST cordial.Liked the atmosphere...sort of funky......our waiter was Simon and he was terrific! The complimentary starter was delicious. the Jordan House Wine "hit the spot". My bengal Fish Curry did NOT measure up to the curry at Seabreeze, but that's OK and hubby had the RUMP in blue cheese and garlic sauce. Superb. However, Jane, the portion of wok veggies that came w/the rump could certainly be MORE ample. Portion of wok veggies MUCH too small.Had a great conversation with the couple at the table next to us.Dinner with tip................R 668. By the time we left most tables were occupied!
