Just four miles from the center of Lisbon, Belem (or Santa Maria de Belem) is best known for Belem Tower (or Torre), a 16th-century fortified lighthouse built to guard the port. This was, after all, the port from which famous Portuguese navigators like Vasco de Gama set off to explore the world. The area is also home to Belem Palace, built in the 16th century by King Manuel and now the official residence of Portugal’s president. Belem is also home to the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery.

After a tour on the river we took the opportunity to come here. We were not disappointed. The host was knowledgeable about all the locally sourced food.We drank craft beer and recommended wine. It was all absolutely delicious, the tuna was so beautifully cooked and the cheese and meat platter was delicious and gave you a real taste of Português cuisine.I cannot recommend this place enough, it is definitely worth the trip.Derek from Glasgow

In my opinion this restaurant is not suitable for vegetarians! No recommendation - the salads were very simple. A very simple iceberg salad with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar for 13⬠is definitely too much! The Octopus salad was fine but not good enough! 1 star...Had hoped us more.

We visited this restaurant having read the reviews here. It was even better than we had hoped. The warmth and welcome from the owners was sincere and genuine. All the dishes have been passed down through the family, which makes the restaurant feel very homely and authentic. You wonât regret a visit to this beautiful restaurant! We canât wait to return.

Right next to jeronimos monastery but not touristy. Guidebooks recommendation butwe saw lots of locals too. Owner was super charismatic and selected our meals for us, fresh fish and an authentic stew. Simple food done well, donât expect fussy service, they turn you over quick but for us the experience was a hit

Just thoroughly enjoyed my dinner tonight at Enoteca. We got a recommendation from friends who visited last week while they were in Lisbon and this place did NOT disappoint. The started, entree and dessert were all perfectly cooked, visually engaging and tasted so so yummy. I would come back here again when I am in Lisbon. The wait staff was so nice and helpful which made the experience so enjoyable for our family. THANK YOU Enoteca!!!! We will see you again soon.

Mediterranean food with a very special twist!
Horrible restaurant. We went there because of the tripadvisor reviews... probably all fake. Beware! First, the food. My wife had cod and it was so salty! I like salty food... but when your thongue hurts... I ordered a steak (medium rare) and it was well done to say the least. Extremely salty also but the fries were not cooked enough and... no salt on the fries! Also, worst service ever. We were kind and polite. And they were avoiding us (restaurant half full). We ordered wine, it came from the kitchen, impossible to know what it was. Came in an anonymous bootle (?!) and I had to pour it into my glass myself. In the end, they ask if we want to pay cash or by credit card. I say cash. They bring me an handwritten check (see picture). Avoid at all costs. We appreciate your feedback, and are very sorry for not meeting your expectations. We take the opportunity to emphasize that all TripAdvisor reviews are reliable! Result of a hard work of our team, whose main objective is the excellence in our dishes and service. We need to clarify some points of your assessment ...Excess and / or lack of salt: We do not realize what happened because - this is the first time we have encountered this situation (salt is very subjective), and it could be dealt with quickly by one of our attendants.Service: We treat all our customers with the utmost attention and dedication, without exception, as our main objective is the quality, efficiency and satisfaction of our customers in service;Wine: House wine is served in the house bottle. We take the opportunity to invite you to taste some of the labels of our wine cellar ... Taberna dos Ferreiros.

Mestrias is a brilliant find, one of the best restaurants I have visited so far in Lisbon. Food is simply delicious and prices are just excellent! It was 5 of us, four adults and one child- we had polvo, gambas panadas, pimentos padron, ovos com farinheira, bacalhau a bras, leitao, two rounds of beer for 4 people, usual rounds of bread as expected from an authentic Portuguese restaurant, two desserts... all of this for 80/90 EUROS. We will be returning for sure!

This is a very small restaurant run by a lovely kind couple that clearly loves what they do. The lady was the wine connoisseur. We decided to accompany our lunch with wine by the glass. She will make recommendations and let you taste before choosing. We had Douro Colinas do Douro, with our sardines, which were wonderful, Mare & Corvus with sausages and linguica, which were served with mango; the dish was very good, and others with our main dishes. Out of the way but worth a visit.

31 dâArmada is an experience of contrasts. You breathe classic and modern at the same time and you feel simplicity and sophistication are the perfect match. Here lays part of the historical legacy of Lisbon: murals with amazing XVIIIâs century tiles. The
I have only visited this restaurant at lunch time - its a great choice and offers a menu which is great value. The food is excellent, high class preparation, well balanced flavours and beautifully presented. Service is friendly and efficient. The restaurant is not on the beaten track - it is actually in Alcantara, so a lunch visit could be coupled with a visit to the tram museum.Hello culturedportugal, thank you very much for your comments. We are very happy that you enjoyed the 31 d'Armada experience. Our team gives their best every day and your opinion reinforce our motivation. We hope to see you soon.
