This restaurant is a cozy place. The dishes we ordered were quite tasty. Unfortunately, the food was not served hot and the portions were relatively small. Couple that with the fact that no bread is served at the table and the asking price of $21 to $26 or so per entree and it's a poor value. By comparison, we've eaten at quite a few Mediterranean restaurants in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and, well, in the Mediterranean and received far better value at every one.

Arugula's never disappoints. I've been coming here since the late 90's and have enjoyed my food experiences. Everything is prepared in house. The menu comprises of Middle Eastern, French and Northern Italian flavors and the food experience makes your face smile. This casual and sunny bistro is welcoming where the chef/owner Christiane treats you like a guest in her home. She has trained her staff well as they are very attentive and want your food experience to be memorable. I usually order their tasty and plentiful Eggplant Napoleon appetizer but have expanded to their Moules Frites (mussels steamed with tomatoes, curry, and onion marmalade. This meal also comes with sweet potatoe fries with a side of saffron tarragon aioli). Another item worthy to mention is their fig and asparagus crispy flatbread with a fig compote, sprinkled with blue cheese and the asparagus spears. Portions are ample...bring your appetite!thank you so much for the lovely review! i look forward to cooking for you again soon...christiane

Nice restaurant with nicely prepared food , but I really didnât like the spices. I had Tagine in Morocco and looked forward to having it. The spices were the problem with me. My friends loved their meals . My wifeâs mixed grill was excellent . I find it hard to put down a place because of my personal tastes . Try it as many people love this place. I have to endby saying I am really flexible withethnic food

My goodness this store/restaurant is phenomenal. I have tried their spicy falafel sandwiches and they are amazing! There are so many yummy desserts and middle eastern specialties to purchase. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and the service is fast and efficient. Do not hesitate to try this gem!

Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant is a warm and welcoming tapas bar inspired by the culture of Spain. The ever-changing menu is focused on clean flavors, seasonal ingredients, specialties from Spain and the Mediterranean, and rustic small plate presentation
After the last very disappointing experience we decided to give it another try in hopes of improvement. To our surprise on Sunday night 6:00 the restaurant was half full which was never the case before. We had a nice table outside asked for drinks the waitress had no clue, the second waitress can still no clue. The first one came back asking for whatâs in it seriously at WH restaurant wow. The second waitress comes back asking if I had the drink there before and the answer is I sure did. Then I am told they do t have the ingredients to make it really no Barleyâs or Kabulâs. Oh, well I got a different concoction free of charge. We placed our order the food was good as always actually the calamari is much better then before. The hanger steak steak arrived to the table and was dropped at which point we were asked if we want another one. Need to say no more. Great service is hard to find but makes a difference even if the food is good.
When a new place opens and itâs not the usual fair, you get your hopes up that it will be slam dunk success that you can return to again and again. River's Edge Bistro and Mediterranean Cuisine is a new family run restaurant with lots of potential. In its first few weeks itâs attracted a lot of folks in this wealthy area, most new and some familiar with the Farmington location with a similar menu. First the good, great renovation of a so-so place and very pleasant service. If you are familiar with Deepwater Seafood, itâs right next door (side note, Deepwater Seafood remains a gem in the region for outstanding choices for take-out fish, shrimp, clams, oysters and delectable sides). We had dinner at Rivers Edge Bistro and selected tangines and the mixed meat offering (lamb chop, chicken and shrimp accompanied by rice). The later included salad (fresh and tasty), fresh, warm pita and unique toasted chips with 3 side sauces, tahini, smoked something (too strong), and more liquidy sauce. Flavors were mostly fine in all dishes, but the meat quality of the lamb and beef in the tangines was low. The meat used had far too much fat and wasnât good flavor. And the spices werenât well spread in the tangine dishes, one bite yielded too strong a flavor and other bites no hit. (Sorry your reviewer is not good at identifying specific pices.) All diners at the table agreed, despite the pluses of atmosphere and good service, on the whole the food did not live up to hopes. Similar fair at Zohara in West Hartford is much higher quality. Importantly, Rivers Edge didnât offer a meaningful price difference and we thought the value wasnât there. Another similar choices is Zaytoonâs Bistro in West Hartford, which represents both awesome food with incredibly reasonable prices. While 2 desserts were good (Turkish baklava and a cheese Danish-like pastry that was a table favorite), Rivers Edge has more to do to up its game and keep the diners who might otherwise head to West Hartford on the Avon side of the mountain. Weâll go back to try to the gyros to make sure we have the full flavor of their offerings before deciding if it will stay on our list for dining in the Farmington Valley.
