Reviews on Mediterranean food in Asiago, Province of Vicenza, Italy. Asiago (Italian: [aˈzjaːɡo]; Cimbrian: Slege, German: Schlägen [ˈʃlɛːɡn̩]) is the name of both a major Italian PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) cheese and a minor township (population roughly 6,500) in the surrounding plateau region (the Altopiano di Asiago or Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, Asiago plateau) in the Province of Vicenza in the Veneto region of Northeastern Italy. It is near the border between the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regions in the foothills of the Alps, and about equidistant (60 km) from the major cities of Trento to the west and Vicenza to the south. The Asiago region is the origin of Asiago cheese. The town was the site of a major battle between Austrian and Italian forces on the Alpine Front of World War I. It is a major ski resort destination as well as the site of the Astrophysical Observatory of Asiago, operated by the University of Padua.

Located in the center of Asiago, the Ristorante Pizzeria Magia offers a wide selection of fragrant pizzas and excellent dishes, even gluten-free (AIC certified).
I show up by myself on a Sunday just after 1:00 pm, absolute peak time. I am kindly offered a table near the entrance, apologizing for the fact that this was a sub-optimal location. As a matter of fact, the location was absolutely fine and I was soon helped by a very courteous waitress that helped me navigate the creative menu. I had a local twist on pizza (Asiago Cheese with Soppressa) which was a delicious mix that I had never tried before. Some good German beer helped me enjoy the food even more. Overall a very good experience, professional under every aspect. As some other reviewers have said the ambiance is a little bit cold and what they would need to massively improve it is to just embellish the entrance area.

I have visited Locanda Aurora on a rainy Sunday and was fascinated by the warm atmosphere I have encountered here .It is an hive for the good food lovers. I have also learnt that the great Italian director Ermanno Olmi has been honoring this hive for a long decade. You feel the difference par excellence.

We came here for a quick late lunch with no special expectation and we were surprised by a very good quality food (I had a very fresh summery Fettuccine with burrata, basilico e pomodorini freschi, my kids a tasty pizza) and a extremely kind and smiling waiters. Well done!
